dam is very deep with relatively small surface area it got up to around 100% for quite a while. We had some pots upstream that we were working when the dam was around 96% and we lost them when the dam rose so next trip we will see if they are still there.

The easiest way to determine Black Jew from Mulloway is that the southern Jew or Mulloway, has a pronounced black spot where the Pectoral Fin joins the body. The black jew does not.
Also Keep in mind that Black Jew are Currently a NO Take species in Qld and have been since March 2021. This is due to a quota system in place. The fishery will re-open in Jan 2022.
    Mulloway here....

Braved the cold and went to the western arm this morning and we decided to go down towards the dam wall. We have not been that direction for a while and the dam has dropped a lot since we checked the pots down there. Only 3 pots were still in the water and one was holed and the other 2 were full of shrimp and small redclaw. The other 5 pots were high and dry and we could not even reach where they were secured to the trees and had to cut the ropes. Once again the fish were hard to locate with only 6 fish boated by 10 am. We ended up finding a school against an isolated tree ending up with a tally of 36 bass and one tandanus. The bass were on the small side going between 32 and 39cm.

Took the son for a bankside walk sat morning (wife said I only took him in case I fell over ) for only one yella. It was good for the diabetes though, 9 before and 6.8 after. So I have worked it out if I walk 3 times a day every day I should be OK😜
Anyway onto better things, fished a few different schools out the dam yesterday and managed 62 bass not out. It was good to find the right schools  (hungry ones ) for a change. A few on spinnerbaits and the rest on shrimp, nearly all above 40cm. Last pic shows the hard conditions I had to put up with.🐟😜

    Hi all,
Came across a 1 day only sale and thought it would benefit someone who was in the game to buy some new gear so thought I'd create a post.
I was also thinking this could be a thread for others to share other bargains/sales that they come across in future that might help others. Please keep in mind site rules around advertising etc so no self plugging or spamming.
The below is on sale TODAY ONLY at a 3 letter boating, camping and fishing store.
1000, 2500, 3000 and 4000 sized reels at discount of over $100 with a range of suitable rods for you to select from worth $79 for free. Sent it to an old work colleague this morning at 7am and he ordered by 7:30 🙂 Bargain!

Out to NPD for the last time for a few weeks. In for a op on my left hand, arther in my left and right thumb. They will remove a bone from my left thumb and give me a needle in the right thumb. In plaster for a week then a splint for a few weeks.I have the climbing gear ready for climbing the walls after about the second day,😜
Anyway I have had some good fishing lately, couple of trips to lake baroon, 73 then last week 71, and also NPD is picking up for winter with plenty of fish about.Managed 41 yesterday and back at the ramp by 9.30am, found a honey hole and it was hell bent for leather fish after fish till the bait was gone, managed a nice 52cm in amongst them.

Headed up to 1770 with a mate in his boat on Thursday destined for a few days on the great barrier Reef. We stayed in town that night got all the fuel and ice topped up then left the ramp early Friday.

The forecast was for great weather and we weren't disappointed, my mates 670 Bar crusher cruised easily to our fishing grounds.

We dropped baits down and were rewarded with a few good tuskies and red throat emperor on our early spots.
It was Graham's 1st time up there so a lot of the fish were PBs then he bagged his 1st coral trout.

The fishing continued at a steady pace of quality fish caught, we went wide looking for red emperor but found the deeper reefs dead. Back in closer it picked up again and mid afternoon the trout really come on along with quality red throat that Graham couldn't believe how hard these fish fight all the way to the boat.

Before the sun set we anchored up on a nice reef drop off in a sheltered position behind the reef. The red throat emperor and Moses perch got thick after dark and we had some fun in the shallows. We put some floating pillies out for a Spanish Mackerel on dusk but that didn't turn a reel.
The next morning we headed out deep again but it was still shut down so reefs under 50m were where the fish was. By late morning we decided to run down to Fitzroy lagoon for lunch and a swim. We hooked up to a mooring bout and jumped straight in. Graham didn't want to leave and sat on his duck board legs in the water knocking back a few cold beers.

We finally left heaven and headed back to the ramp at 30 knots and stayed another night in town before driving home.

received_839565710237602.mp4 Already can't wait till I'm back on the reef.

Went to a camp called trinity islands at Burrum heads for a week. It is a 100 acre property on the Burrum river but has a man made lake that spans a bit over 11 acres. There was 4 caravans in our crew and we all camped together.

There are 3 islands left in the middle of the lake with land bridges' so you can camp on them. The lake is stocked with yellow belly and barramundi but as we found the tilapia were easier to catch.

We fished the river with our kayaks and got plenty of bream but this trip was more about just chilling by the lake and river. We did get offshore as a mate brought up a big boat that 4 of us fished the southern gutters up in northern Hervey bay. Here we caught grassy sweetlip, stripies, spangled emperor and lost good coral trout to sharks.

We did barefoot bowls 1 arvo and had a blast in town followed by a top feed at the club. We did see the barra in the lake and could here them at night as we sat around the camp fire each night.

We went to Hervey bay for a day walked out to the end of Urangan pier, took the young kids to the water park and hung out at the beach.

I would recommend this camp ground to anyone they supply kayaks for each camp to use on the lake.
