    Hi Guys,
sadly im on call over Easter this year, but i suppose whats even more sad is that fact its blowing 25kn on the reef so no-one else can go fishing and make me jelous hahahaha
So i decided to go for a sneaky little fish in a spot close to home, an old quarry, overgrown and pretty dense vegitation around it so im not sure how many people are fishing it, maybe a few maybe none!!
But last night showed me you really never know what's on your doorstep until you put your boots on and have a little look, this JP absolutely inhaled a zerek Prawn that my mate was fishing and took off like a barra, went 48cms and released so I can catch it when its 50CM and he can do the camera work !!!

fish over the side are always fish to be shared. Im beginning to think that my deckies up here are getting the better end of that deal.
Seriously get annoyed when the deckys stop fishing or start sleeping on the front cast deck, meanwhile everything i pull over the side im only eating 1/3 of hahahaha
well try and get you a cattle dog cod when you come up,  the pro i went line fishing with told me * when you catch cattle dog cod you know you are on virgin ground* ( ground thats not been fished in a lonnnng time)

    Hi Guys,
Having moved around a bit in Queensland with a boat on the back I've managed to amass a fair number of fishing marks that now stretch a fair chunk of the north QLD coastline, so if any members are on holidays in between the South and North point in the below picture and are towing a boat, i may be able to help with locations. I also may not, but if you are genuinely towing a boat with you and coming up to North Queensland sing out and i shall try my best to help.

Hi guys, abit of a late report, haven't been in the swing the past few months of logging into AFO, but it crossed my mind so I thought id throw up a report.
For those of you who have been around a while you'll remember the old 'Noosa Fishing Shack' and the awesome hospitality afforded to us all my the man himself Greg Carter.
We'll its crazy how the world goes around, i've always kept a great friendship with Greg having lived close to him on the sunshine coast for 5 years but having moved up to Cairns, Greg finds himeself up here for work more and more and besides drinking a lot of Bourbon together we've been getting out for a fish a bit lately.
No anyone know knows Greg knows fishing runs through his veins and he's never far away from where there biting, so now with me having the keys to the boat and the wheel at my hand the pressure is on to find the fish.
This particular day we had planned to go out wide and chase red emporer and trout, ( as a side note, i've got Tugger coming up mid year and i'm starting to feel the heat on finding reliable patches of red emperor so this was a kind of reconnaissance trip too)
We left Cairns at a casual 3am out through the lead markers knowing in the back of our mind that we were heading out into 13kn. Now that doesn't sound bad but up here its a shorter sharper wind chop so its wet in my boat.
Once we had got out round the point it got wet,,, but not cold!!!
65kms later and still in the dark we started dropping baits and the fish started to come over the side.
Unfortunately not the reds i was looking for but i found some marks that on better tides will definitely hold the prize species.
So here's the question,  Greg hooks up a great fish, fights it out of 65M to about 8M under the boat and looses it, 5 mins later theres a big cattle dog cod floating on the surface 20M from the boat, he asks why we are throwing cod back and i jump up and down and realise his fish he lost has got barra trauma and floated to the surface, I manover the electric motor over to the fish and lift it into the boat, WHOS FISH IS THIS?? 🙂
Heres a few pictures of the trip
