  1. That is good news. Now lets ban green prawn imports and fix it for good.
  2. I use Alvey a lot and still love it. Mostly off the rocks with a glass rod. Last 2 times I went fishing with @rayke1938 out at North Pine dam I used a little Alvey with a small rod. I loved it. You have to play out the line rather than relying on the drag. Makes it so much more exciting! I don't have any old solid glass rods but for bait fishing there is nothing better. Lure casting is all about light rods and small eggbeaters for me.
  3. Loving this thread thanks. I have a webber bbq that I think I can smoke on. Will do some research. Taylor and mullet must be awesome smoked like this.
  4. Great informative post! Thanks so much Porta Bloke. Welcome to AFO. Do you have any recommendations on what smokers to buy or how to build your own? The old ones I have had are the little metho boxes that only take about 20 mins to smoke.
  5. Sad to hear. I have loved your reports out of that boat. Someone is getting a great buy. Good luck with the sale.
  6. I thought this was interesting. Bristle Worm eating.
  7. Thanks for the update. The current requirements for green prawns are not working.
  8. Hey Vince. Welcome to AFO. Its a good question but my answer is a bit lame sorry. Hopefully someone with better info will answer you soon. A bit more info would help too. Size of boat and how heavy? 4 stroke or 2 stroke? Age of engine. The best I can do is say go for a good run with a full tank (with a spare tank just in case). Work out how far you have gone on your GPS or just on a map. Then top up the tank to work out how much you used. That is what I do as my fuel gauge is rubbish. Hope that helps. I ALWAYS have a small spare tank that is big enough to get me home from pretty much anywhere. They don't take up much room and it makes me feel better.
  9. Awesome trip all the same mate. Sorry you lucked out. I'm glad to see you still had a fish at Kimbe.
  10. When you pick it up let me know and I will be your decky any time that suits. I will need to take out a loan to pay for half the fuel however. #worthit .
  11. Thanks mate. Sorry I should have just looked it up.
  12. I might go on Sunday... Busy weekend. How much is it this year?
  13. Keen to follow this. Boat building is WAY out of my pay scale.
  14. Wow that looks mint. I am looking forward to seeing some fish being pulled into it now
  15. pretty privileged if they are private on crown land. I have heard a lot of people ask about them. I don't blame people for keeping them under control as if anyone could go there they would quickly be abused. Saying that It would be a great spot for a weekend.
  16. You got me again. Here is the original photo....
  17. I caught this one in January. Here is a report.
