  1. Hey Brian Sorry for the late reply - my mum is in hospital right now so we have been really busy lately (she's OK). I am still up for the fishing, and I will have to be pulling the anchor up this time as my dad will be at home helping out my mum. (My dad is saying that I will not be strong enough though so maybe another AFO-er who doesn't have tiny arms could come too) Also, I saw above you said going to Mud from snaps and then the POB - so will it be the bay area or the Nerang for whiting? Cheers Hamish
  2. Hey Dino Good session - those are some great numbers for landbased fishing. Cheers Hamish
  3. Hey Fishaman Sorry, I've never been there so completely clueless on the area. I'd say your best bet would be to fish the rivers and try and find some new territory Good luck! Cheers Hamish
  4. Hey rayke Nice one. Those are some good bass - and whopping numbers too! Cheers Hamish
  5. I checked SoldierCrab's profile - he is located in QLD So it all applies to him. Cheers Hamish
  6. Hey SoldierCrab Welcone to the forum - you’ll be able to find lots of good tips on here for fishing in Australia. You are permitted to have three sets of treble hooks on one line or on one lure - so yes, it is 100% legal. Cheers Hamish
  7. That's great news about the cancer Drop Bear!!! Glad to hear you have been doing well. Hopefully it's all up-hill from here Cheers Hamish P.S. Shame you can't come to the get together.
  8. Hey Sneaky1 Wow - I never would've known anything like that existed. Good job on the other flatties too, especially that 64cm (or so) model above! I would've said Nimbin, but that works too Cheers Hamish
  9. That looks great - it'll certainly be good to take fishing gear around... And it would be a crime to not fish off the pier if I'm nearby (hopefully there's some time!) I will send a PM right now. Cheers Hamish
  10. Hey Towknee That would be lovely - we can finalize details of PM. My dad is happy to drive out to Deagon It will be nice to meet you. One thing though, would you mind showing us a pic just so we know exactly what to expect. Hey jon I sure will - hope it helps my catch some fish! Cheers Hamish P.S. Sorry for late replies
  11. Hey Junky I remember in our old house my dad would use rat traps with peanut butter to catch them - it was always rather exciting when he did. Breaming with bro, looks like you need what Junky has said! Cheers Hamish
  12. Hey ellicat Blast! That's annoying. I would think salting worms would be like salting any other bait, if that helps at all. Looks like it might have to be a thing you do immediately after use. Cheers Hamish
  13. Hey Angry51 Thanks for that, the wind we are having at the moment (and the tide times) makes it inconvenient for me to fish, which is annoying. I think it's to late - Greg has seen all right! Cheers Hamish
  14. Hey all Sorry to post another 'Wanted' topic, and I know this one is a bit bizarre, but after a quick look on Gumtree, I see there isn't anything for an OK price near me like this. I'm wanting a kids bike trolley like the image below, so I can stick a couple rod holders on, and be able to ride to a network of spots near the river. That would allow me to fish more on different tides, so I could hopefully get better results. Cheers Hamish
  15. The wind is bad, and yesterday (when fishing the high at the local park) it was bloody howling! A combination of tides, winds, and times at the moment for fishing the local park makes it very annoying, as the low is when the bait is around (midday so not bite time), the wind is up all day, and the highs are in morning and arvo 'peak' bite periods. The first day worth fishing at the local park for me is Monday/Tuesday arvo. Guess I'll scout around other spots at the moment Cheers Hamish
  16. Sand bars, soft plastics, and high tides are a recipe for a fab flatty in my opinion. Good luck Kat - the new Nasci will be wonderful Cheers Hamish
  17. Hey Brian, and others Yep. If we wanted (and if the weather is bad for the bay) we could fish the Nerang? I just looked on Willy Weather - seems the high is the go. If we launched mid-morning everyone, we could fish the high, then come back in, either go or target something else for the remaining hours (I wouldn't be sure though!). Sounds like it might become a great day and plan. Cheers Hamish (P.S. I'll get Cavvy to comment on this later)
  18. Good one Kat, I have the exact same reel. It will sure catch you some good fish I'll be excited to hear about it. When I got mine I did feel like a kid on Chrissy morning - because I was a kid on Chrissy Morning!! Cheers Hamish
  19. Alright, thought so! That sounds good with the tags as well. We can figure out a spot down the track . I've never tagged sharks so would be excited to do so, that's for sure. Hey ellicat Thanks for that, yep, it was a pretty solid fish. I went out in the sit in yak on the river yesterday. We probably paddled about 3KM all up, as we went down to the boat ramp that is nearby... I was doing circle work a lot of the time as I was getting used to how the yak turned... But mainly the fact the the wind kept getting the better of me! I was paddling decently in it by the end though, and I was pretty happy with the balance. I can put some pictures up later today when I get piccys off my dad. Cheers Hamish
  20. Nice one, that would've put up a hell of a fight. I can't guess/haven't been to the spot so I know it's not around me (or it might be, and I might not know ). @christophagus, would you want to meet up for a sharking session when it really warms up (and other AFO members as well?). Cheers Hamish
  21. Yep, that's sure another option ellicat. I did it once at Colleges Crossing with a 30cm live mullet. The only problem I have found with this method is the bait will often swim back to shore, which is a bit annoying. Yep, that's what I do if I have a big bait (unless we are deciding to use a brick as break-away weight which is rare). All my bullies have been the same size or thereabouts. I caught most of my sharks at the end of 2019/start of 2020. I will probably just keep targeting threadies, and catch the bullies as by-catch mainly (and every now and then have a bully session). Cheers Hamish
  22. You would most likely launch it with a break away weight. I did this last Summer with a big catfish for nothing. Then again, I could cast a bream on one of the rods I have... It might not be too pleasant though Cheers Hamish
  23. Hey GregOug and ellicat Weather is looking like it's improving on Monday and Tuesday, then on Wednesday and Thursday it's looking pretty good, and Friday is looking like it will glass out http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/meteye/ (Friday's weather on this link) Cheers Hamish
  24. Hey Chris Yep, I reckon they'll be firing soon though. I'm going to try for one on my light gear this time - just a pup but should be fun, that's for sure. Bugger that you got none at Bribie... As for bully baits, I've found mullet superior to everything else (but haven't tried bream yet though). Cheers Hamish
  25. Hey Drop Bear Thanks, happy you enjoyed. It was lucky for a bream or I would've just donutted! Cheers Hamish
