    Hi Breaming with bro
Braid is the best certainly for lure fishing too. Dud reels are very rare, you aren't likely to get one again too. 2 reels and rods is probably enough for lure fishing in estuary waters, maybe your next one could be a bit heavier 🙂

Lake K was built on Sideling Creek which joins the North Pine just above the bridge at Young's Crossing.
Hopefully the work done means that the fish coming out of the dam won't be trapped in pools below the dam.
In the past there have been some significant fish kills in those pools.
This morning NPD was at 64.9% and Lake K at 103.6%

Today at noon Seqwater showed 63.5% for NPD and 96.2% for Kurwongbah at 14:36.
BOM forecasts falls  around 80/100 mm for Thursday so tomorrow might see lake K overflow!!

Dam has risen at least 3 feet so reckon redclaw will explode in a few weeks time as they can now feast on all the submerged grass on the edges. Fishing was a bit hard but Steve ended up with a feed of redclaw and we boated 32 bass and 5 forkies. About 10 of the bass would have been unders or just on 30cm and the best bass just over 40cm. All fish were released. CHeers Ray

    Hi Breaming with Bro
I don't know too many reels (that I have experience with) that are small. But i can give you a couple good ones. The Shimano Nasci works really well and if spooled with good, thin braid it will cast excellent. It can fight good fish, I have mine on an 8ft Ugly Stik rod and it goes great for whiting, bream, flathead and all bread and butter species. I would suggest it if you want another Shimano reel.
On the other hand, the Diawa Shinobi works very well. It can pull up fish, mine is paired with a graphite rod. It casts far with light (or heavy) weights. I have been using it with bait but I would like to get out for a flick with some plastics. I'd suggest this for a Diawa Reel.

    Hi IlanC
    Here is the information -
The rock wall near the ferry station and the jetty next to Green Bridge all work. I have caught salmon on frozen bait, even on a half frog mouth pilchard on one occasion. (My profile picture was actually caught at the jetty next to the bridge). If you are using frozen bait, source it as fresh as you can and off that jetty you will get sharks, pike, cod, bream and even whiting. Here is Google Maps-

There are some rocks on the other side of the jetty (which Google Maps doesn't have) but if you want the exact location, or if any other members want the exact location, you can/ I can PM you/me. I don't mind people knowing it but I don't exactly want the whole world seeing it LOL 😉
    Here is the other side:
Wait sorry, it is down left and the other side of the bridge.

The rocks are on the other side to the jetty, a bit down from the bridge. If you fish on the jetty you will know what I'm talking about. Once again, if anyone wants to know the exact location, I can PM you 🙂
Poddy mullet do work as well as all the other baits listed. Also, please don't tell the whole world about these spots, I know it already has the local crowd fishing but it certainly doesn't need a truckload more. 🙂
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers Hamish 🙂

    Hi Leejin
If you read some old reports, I have heard lots of good stuff coming from there. Jewfish, threadfin, bream, flathead, cod, whiting, sharks and rays. I haven't fished there myself but I'd assume prawns/worms for bream, whiting, flathead and livies for jew, sharks, rays and big flatties.
    Cheers Hamish 🙂

    Hi Poacher..
With my limited fishing around the Gold Coast, there are some spots I have had some luck.
I've caught whiting at the spit, I reckon you could get bream and flatties there too. I used sand worm, but I suppose pillies a some small gang hooks with a light sinker/running sinker rig would work well. Prawns would also go to, and if you have a spot to pump yabbies, they should probably work well for everything.
The Sand Pumping Jetty is an option, and while I've never heard a report that hasn't said "this place is full of people taking undersized fish and is PACKED!", I've heard tailor, bream, kingfish, flathead, whiting and cod coming from it. It seems pillies or live bait are the go there. Though, a kingfish would be pretty rare.
The Seaway rock wall is a good spot too, check this video Team Madmullet Productions (madmullet) has done on Gold Coast fishing basic for some more tips. They get a range of species on bait, slugs and plastics.
    By the way

    Hi Leejin
In my opinion, it's a great spot. Read the original Nice Session in The Brisbane River This Morning. As it says in the report, live bits caught in the cast net are good, and the fish bit on the low tide (dead low) but I've seen people on Youtube do it on high tide, so I don't think it is very tide dependent, more early morning, late afternoon or night.
    Cheers Hamish 🙂

The Brisbane Valley Anglers meet at the Mt Ommaney library on the first Wednesday of every month except January at 7:30pm.
    Club Information
The Brisbane Valley Anglers Fish Stocking Association (BVAFA) was formed on the 26th of May 1988 by a group of dedicated anglers that saw a need to stock native fish species into the Brisbane River and its catchment. The original stocking committee went on to become responsible for the stocking of Wivenhoe and Somerset Dams and is now known as the Somerset & Wivenhoe Fish Stocking Association. After several years of stocking these two major storages it was decided to stock the Brisbane River below Wivenhoe Dam and the Brisbane Valley Anglers was formed in its current state. In November 1996 the Department of Primary Industries gave approval to stock native fish in to the Brisbane River between Wivenhoe Dam and the Mount Crosby Weir. Since this time Australian Bass have been stocked annually along with smaller numbers of the endangered Mary River Cod when supplies have been available. To build on the success of stocking the Brisbane River, our charter now includes the development of two new fisheries at Lake Manchester and Enoggera Reservoir.

I think that their first stocking took place in 2015 or 6. From memory Brooksy tried to interest the PRFMA in stocking enoggera but they declined.
    Cheers Ray
