  1. Thanks! I'm looking at the chasebaits ones. I knew that the savage gear's quality wouldn't be great for the price.
  2. Same with soft plastics or hardbodies. I've found that plastics melt or get very soft when they sit on my rods near the window a lot, so that's why i started derigging. Your hardbodies could fade in the sun as well so keep these away too.
  3. That sounds like a cool way to catch them!
  4. Hi all. I've been looking into doing some bass fishing using cicada topwater lures. Does anyone have any recommendations which don't break the bank, or break the heart when snagged , but are still quality lures that catch fish? I've seen a savage gear pack at BCF, however they look cheaply made to suit to their price and the wings don't look functional to make that "pop pop pop" as you burn them across the surface. I've also looked at some on this website but I'm questioning their quality: https://www.tackleparadise.com.au/collections/topwater-cicadas. Other topwater lures for bass would also be appreciated. Thanks
  5. I know you have already bought the board but I found this with a quick google search and thought it would be worth posting: https://boteboard.com.au/blogs/journal/the-best-fishing-paddle-board
  6. Yeah they're awesome I got mine on sale for $80 which was a good score.
  7. I like the split butt design on the Abu Garcia Salty Stage because it provides a better grip. The rod has a stiff tip and fast taper and so I find it really nice to use when working soft plastics. Caught plenty of flathead on it and it's become my favourite rod. They are on the expensive side at $280, however, so if its worth your money is up to you. https://abugarcia-fishing.com.au/product/salty-stage-kr-x-light-casting-ii/
  8. Hi Mate. I live very close to you and am interested in picking these up. Are they still available? Thanks
  9. Please refrain from using too large of font - try to keep the font size the same as the default, and separate your sentences. It will help make your questions more clear and understandable for other forum members to reply.
  10. I pull apart all the reels I use and clean the parts individually, wiping them with a damp, soft rag with only water, to get sand and grime out of the mechanism. I wipe down my rods with the same sort of process as the reels to remove any residual dirt or salt spray. For baitcasters, I sometimes find that the little hole on top of the spool where your line comes out of sometimes gets clogged with some mud or dirt. I use a cue tip or a scrunched up paper towel to remove this. For my tackle i like to wash the trebles of crankbaits and hardbodies so that they dont rust over time and spread it into the other lures where I store them. Soft plastics get put back into their packs and my jigheads don't rust so I just either keep them in the soft plastic or keep them neatly alligned in a samaki foam case - these are really great and an efficient to store your lures, jigheads, or vibes. They are expensive for their size and what they really are but the quality is great and they're a cool little product: https://www.bcf.com.au/p/samaki-slit-foam-tackle-case-large/609694.html Hope this helps.
  11. That's impressive Allnighter. Good fish.
  12. Sounds fun Hamish! Hopefully you get onto some bigger ones soon
  13. I agree. I use a 4000 in the surf for those lighter applications.
  14. That's a nice fish. I remember a similar scenario with @AUS-BNE-FISHO and I where we didn't expect to catch anything, especially not of size, and Hamish ended up getting a 70cm flatty and I was the human landing net. Haha.
  15. A rod in that 8-10ft range, with a 6-10kg line rating would work well.
  16. Awesome work guys! I'm sure those grassies won't last long.
  17. Figured this would be a cool video for most to watch. Can't believe he landed it:
  18. Hi Kat. I have no idea where that is but man that's a big barra
  19. Nice Jewie Thorbjorn! Catching one from the river would be awesome.
