N Stradbroke Island

Hi All

I'm taking some mates to N Stradbroke this weekend looking for some big stretches from shark or rays. All catches are released unharmed. Perhaps some tailor would be good too.

Any suggestions on Bait and fishing spots. We will be camping on Main beach foreshore and were thinking of Jumpinpin as a starting point.

Any suggestions??

we just fish from the beach using beach worms we catch there & get a mixed bag, no sharks or rays love it over there im booked in to go again in august, can't wait.

if you use baits like eel, mackeral, tuna, mullet, ray, slimies or live fish you may get on of these. my misses got it afew months back. you will need to sand bag cause of current if you are land base in the mouth of the pin, surf or sth passage bar. you may incounter, hammer, bullies, duskies, sand bar and afew more.

try get some tailor and put them out live. good luck

i was there a few weeks back and they were getting two-three sharks a night on the second groin at the amity point caravan park might be a bit out of your way if your up the point.

Where can we throw a cast net for livies. Are there any places by the ferry drop off point or in Jumpinpin?

you can get heaps off the jetty at amity a lot of pike there of a night

there is almost always bait of some sort at the Dunwich jetty

i have been going to straddie since i was three years old and we have caught rays sharks cod taylor bream travally whitting bream all off of amity point
