Dead Bait For Threadin Salmon

Hey all,

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info on using dead baits when targeting threadies...

from what I can find, large fresh prawns and small whole squid can pick up the occasional salmon and Jew. while im well aware of the benefits of live bait, sometimes catching live bait land based  can prove to be very difficult sometimes.

Just curious to see if anyone has had much success with dead baits? I wonder how a fresh dead herring would go..

I have caught them on pilchards which i still believe is 1 of the best frozen baits i like to run livies and pilchards when fishing down the river

Large green prawns have worked for me as have half pillies.  Haven't caught one on herring but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Most fish like herring. Vibe lures are good too.

I am sure dead baits work.

The is with the small amount of threadfin fishing I have done is the livies seem to stay away from the catties longer
