Bit of a strange one today

Popped out this afternoon, it's nice having a good spot less then 20min from home and had a very unusual by catch. 

I somehow managed to foul hook a a damn 11lb carp while jigging with a jackall transom. 

That proved to be a hell of a fight especially in the very very strong current. 

But I also ended the day with a nice little 2lb Brown trout.

Always good to have a spot close to home where you can decide on a dime to wet a line. 

Is it much of a walk from where you walk to where you first cast?

That would have been a struggle ! ... and a test for the rod ??

It's a bit of a hike, anywhere from 20m-200m depending on what spot I want.

Definitely put a bend in it, I think if I hadn't broken the 3kg rod a couple weeks back then this might have done it. 

The new rod is a 3-5kg one so it held up well despite pushing its test curve to the limit. Definitely gave the drag a hot minute or two. 

But if I could pull that in tail 1st against the current, there's not a trout or yellow belly in that river it can't handle.
