  1. @Bob9863, if you ever decide to switch brands, I can help you dispose of all those Stellas...............
  2. Definitely worth a look. You will be able to see it on iView if you missed it yesterday. So good to see science corroborate the work that has been done over the last five years. If you want to help, join OzFish and/or come along to one of the working bees at Port of Brisbane on the second Wednesday and fourth Saturday of every month. More info here: https://ozfish.org.au/projects/moreton-bay-shellfish-reef-restoration/
  3. Geez @Angry51. Sounds like someone needs a hug. The world is still a pretty good place. Now if we could only stop the war in Ukraine, get the US and China to kiss and make up, get inflation down, house the homeless, end poverty, slow climate change, ban “reality” TV, stop celebrity worship and cure cancer! How good would it be then?
  4. The good news for you @Angry51 is that we won’t keep breeding at this rate. Just to maintain a population every female of child bearing age needs to produce 2.1 children. None of the developed countries achieve anywhere near that and the big population countries of the world like China, India and Indonesia are also below that target. I read recently that the population of China declined for the first time ever last year, losing 300,000 people. Predictions are that the Chinese population will drop to about 600,000 by the end of the century. You are right about Africa, with most of the poorer countries still well above the 2.1 fertility rate, but in all likelihood they will follow the world trend and we might have a different problem- will the species survive? Anyway, you and I certainly won’t be around to see that question answered.
  5. Well done. Those nice silver, clean, big surf bream are pretty good eating in my opinion.
  6. You will have hours of fun times in your new boat. Have you found yourself just sitting in it in the driveway daydreaming about possible adventures? Enjoy!
  7. @Kilkenny, don’t be offended or disappointed by the lack of replies to your offer. I think most people on here are open to fishing with others from the site but would generally like some idea about who their potential fishing buddy is. So they might be looking at previous contributions on the site, or whether they have introduced themselves yet. Just to get a feel about whether the offerer is likely to be good company or a serial killer. Maybe put up a few posts about fishing trips or general fishing related stuff to break the ice. We are a friendly group, just a little shy. Another option might be to join a fishing club in the area that you want to fish. There are fewer around these days, but you are sure to find a fishing buddy somewhere amongst them. Good luck!

No need for this early panic @GregOug and @Angry51. I’m sure the Qld teams will return to their losing ways soon and since my tipping fate is inextricably linked to their success, so will I. Just lucky that this week they played each other which saved me two possible losing tips. A bit disappointed that Canberra couldn’t deliver a perfect round for me, but probably nowhere near as disappointed as Ricky would be with the way they played. How good is it to have the nrl back every week?
  9. I think don’t use ChatGPT to pass a marine biology exam in Qld. Can’t see it on this list https://www.qld.gov.au/recreation/activities/boating-fishing/rec-fishing/fish-species-guide/no-take-species

Anyone know why there are only two games today (Saturday)? NSW election?
  11. +1 for Samaki rods. I have a couple of the next model up (zing xtreme) and they are a pleasure to use.
  12. I just see a small white square, no photos.
  13. You’re good @Junky, but not quite as good as Professor @AUS-BNE-FISHO who was spot on with 19. Lucky guess, Hamish, or could your teenage eyes actually count the rings?
  14. Great effort, Bob. Any chance that honey hole is going to run out of fish any time soon. It is amazing how productive that area has been for you.

Man, you had to work hard for that pun, @Gad
  16. I’ll go 16 years.
  17. I was at Tackle Warehouse at Coorparoo the other day. They have stacks of RMGs if you can talk your dad into a bit of a drive.
  18. Never seen or caught one in MB. Check YouTube vids from Peter Herbst. He has no trouble finding or catching them.
  19. My wife has a SUP. Even though I used to surf regularly when I was young, it takes most of my concentration to stay upright, even in smooth water. It would take a bit of experience to fish off one. There are no tether points like a kayak, but I guess occie straps and a milk crate would help. What about the paddle? Tether that to the crate? A bit of chop on the water would make it interesting. Too hard for me, but looking forward to hearing how you go
  20. I’m ok with paying a little more to shop where there is service provided. Otherwise, one day there will be no tackle shops where you can go and feel and look at gear, or get some advice about tackle. But I do understand why others may shop online.

Broncos looked good last week, and the Cows had an ordinary second half but always bring their A game against the Broncos. Tough one.

Manly played well, especially Cherry-Evans. But the Dogs were awful, particularly when you look at the team on paper. Could be a long season for @Jono4500
