Which game is that @ellicat? Well played Tigers!
  2. My mother had 12 kids so had to stretch the food where possible. We used to get 6 pints of milk delivered ( there used to be “milkmen” back then). Mum would cut it with powdered milk to make 12 pints. Milk is the only food I don’t like, but it is not because of that - it was the third of a pint school milk bottles that were always left in the sun before we were forced to drink it at little lunch. The rich kids had flavoured straws to hide the rancid taste, but the rest of us had to drink it straight. Yuk! Sorry @Angry51, I don’t know the brand you are trying to think of.
  3. The way I heard it was that Gallen couldn’t hit the rock hard enough to do any damage and then the ARL changed the trap design so that the rock couldn’t get revenge at the next Trap of Origin? Maybe I heard wrong?

Do you reckon the Warriors might get a fair share of the decisions if the game was in NZ. They certainly copped a few poor decisions yesterday. I tipped Storm but thought the Warriors deserved the win. When was the last time we saw the kicker penalised for crabbing an extra step or two on the goal line drop out? Rubbish.
  5. Nice report, Hamish. Good to see some tailor around already and good size as well. A mate has been getting some gooduns off the northern NSW beaches for a few weeks now, so we might be in for a good season.
  6. Have to admire your dedication @TheCharliefisho. I reckon those big bream that hang around pilons at marinas are way too cagey to fool for most of the tricks fishos try to capture them. Probably not a lot of salt water fishing going to happen on the east coast this week. Grrrr!

Get the popcorn out, but I wouldn’t even put Johns in my top 5 halfbacks of all time. Top 10 yes, but a little overrated in my humble opinion.
  8. Good to see you back on deck, Ray.
  9. You can get a passenger ferry as well, @Kat. Much, much cheaper if you are going for a day trip and don’t need to take heaps of stuff.
  10. I didn’t know that you had come out. Good for you, Brian. Was it a surprise to Mrs Ellicat?
  11. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Mulloway is definitely a trophy fish for most fishers, so I am sure this will be eagerly read by many. Welcome to the forum! Making a contribution with your second post - impressive.

Penrith certainly got the best of the referee’s calls. That hair pull penalty was just a joke. Getting tired of so many soft penalties and sin bins. We are in danger of NRL becoming whistle-bound like rugby union.
  13. Sensational day out, Kelvin. I bet the boys can’t wait to get back to school so they can brag about it to their mates. Definitely bragworthy! Happy filleting.
  14. Good to see Kelvin. The boys are right about paravane fishing. It is a bit dull compared to some other techniques but it does get results. Congrats on the spotties.
  15. Love your work, Hamish. That crab is a beast and like others have said, cod is great on the table.

Unlucky to come up against the mighty Titans, lol.
  17. Great to hear you are on the mend, Ray. Just need to get on top of those other conditions now. Also good to hear some praise for the public health system. We only ever hear the horror stories. I’m sure there are some very real horror stories, but there are many, many more stories of people who had a good experience and I am glad that you were one of them.
  18. You could stick that palace on Airbnb, @Angry51. My mother-in-law’s neighbour keeps chooks. Any that are not laying get their ne is wrung. He makes a point of doing this in front of the other chooks cos he reckons they know why and it reminds them to keep those eggs coming.
  19. We miss you already Ray. Get well soon.

Gad's round 6 certainty... Sportsbet had the Cowboys clear favourites at $1.39 with the Dolphins at $3.00, this morning... I'm not that sure the Cowboys are a certainty, today's Dolphins team list looks a fairly NRL hardened and balanced outfit.. Good call, @Gad. The Dolphins are looking like a very professional outfit that will rattle a lot of cages this season. Even with their missing halves they looked cool under pressure and very capable. I tipped the Cowboys last night because I thought the more experienced backs would outplay the younger guys, but it turned out to be the opposite. Plus, some of the Cowboy’s forwards need to take a look at their workload and hand back a bit of their pay packet. Great season so far. Hard to pick a top 8.
  21. Looks like a top day out Kelvin. You had better do something special for your boys to make up for them not getting out with you. Hope you, and all the others who depend on school holidays to get out for a fish, have some good weather and great fishing over the break. Catch up soon, mate!
  22. Yep, and hard to believe the NT government allows tour boats to encourage crocs to jump out of the water beside a boat to grab food.
  23. I had a few of those Abu reels made in Sweden. My favourite was the Cardinal 57 with rear drag. Smooth as silk and lasted well over 30 years without a service. In the end the spindle for the winding handle wore out. I still have the Ambassadeur 7000 and it is like brand new after 40 odd years but doesn’t get a lot of use these days. I would still like a Stella.
  24. I have absolutely no scientific basis for this theory, so take it with a grain of salt. If fish stocks generally are in decline, it would make sense that the apex predators would decline as nature does tend to balance these things. So, if there are less sharks but more fish being lost to anglers, is it likely that sharks have been conditioned to associate boats with easy food and are following fishers around waiting for the opportunity? I remember watching a video a long time ago from South Africa where they caught a bull shark that was hanging around the boat, tagged it and released it. Every time they fished the same area the shark would turn up and the same shark followed the boat from spot to spot. If that theory is right, no amount of shark culling will fix the issue.
  25. Nice report, Hamish. I can see that I will need to set aside some extra reading time for the next couple of weeks. Hope you brain them in Yenexttoyourfork.
