  1. My Coast Guard renewal is up in Feb-24 ($80) so I thought i would look up where this merger is up to. Supposedly merger is to be wrapped up by June-24. Name and Emblem: MRIP - Marine Rescue Queensland emblem and uniforms approved | For government | Queensland Government Regions Divided up: RIT - Monthly Newsletter December 2023 | For government | Queensland Government
  2. Great news! Now for the weather gods to play the game. What did you get fitted out with the boat? Electronics? Trolling motor? Live bait tanks? Cast decks? etc
  3. Great advice...this is the first step. Getting more infomation will help inform next steps
  4. Not really practical - but you could buy one of those collapsible outboard flush bags. You would need to carry sufficient amounts of fresh water to use though............. Example Shop Outboard Flush Bags In AU | Salt Attack (salt-attack.com.au) Probably cheaper options available or DIY options as well
  5. That worked great @ellicat Can see the photos already Easy enough?
  6. Workaround option i've created for Photo's whilst the issue is unresolved.
  7. Lithium is definitely the way to go. Expensive up front cost but the actual usable battery capacity is miles ahead, as well as the weight savings.
  8. Hi All, Since there has been no movement on fixing the Photo Upload issue. I've created a Temporary workaround using Google Photos. It's not ideal (and a bit convoluted) but this should be the simplest way to enable public sharing of photos with a group (without everyone having to pay subscription costs). All you need is a google account (free). I figure most people already have a google account. Please test out and let me know if steps below need updating or if it doesn't work for you. Below is a link to a Google Photo Album : Australian Fishing Online - Public Shared Album https://photos.app.goo.gl/QvdZs2kL9cH3UmFV6 You should be able to access this link from any PC or Phone ******************* How to upload from an iPhone 1) Click the link to the album https://photos.app.goo.gl/QvdZs2kL9cH3UmFV6 (Choose either Web browser or App when prompted) 2) Top right corner there should be a button to "Add photos" (Button is a frame of 2 mountains with a + sign) - You will be prompted to sign-in to Google (if you haven't already) 3) This should present a drop down to choose photo from "Photo Library" 5) Select the photos you want to add. Click "Add" in top right corner to submit. 6) Wait for the photo(s) to be uploaded to the Album. How to share a specific photo you have just uploaded 1) Whilst viewing the Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QvdZs2kL9cH3UmFV6 2) Click on the specific photo you want to share 2) Top right corner there should be a button to "Share" (looks like this symbol <). (In the App its down the bottom "Share to...") 3) A screen will pop up. Ignore everything on this screen and just click the bottom left button "Create Link" and again click "Create Link" on the next screen. (In the App click "Create Link") 4) A link will be created. Copy this link and paste into your forum post. This is an example of a direct link to a photo in the shared photo album https://photos.app.goo.gl/73tueFhyKCyefiiE6 Things to Note: Anyone with the above link: can view photos that have been shared (no google sign-in required) - ie its PUBLIC can upload photos to the album (google sign-in required) Once the AFO Photo issue is resolved I'll upload all the photos back onto AFO. ******************* How to upload from a PC (very similar to iPhone) 1) Click the link to the album https://photos.app.goo.gl/QvdZs2kL9cH3UmFV6 2) Top right corner there should be a button to "Add photos" (Button is a frame of 2 mountains with a + sign) - You will be prompted to sign-in to Google (if you haven't already) 3) Top right corner there should be a button to "Select from Computer" 5) From the Pop-up screen navigate to and select the photos you want to add. If you want to add multiple photos at a time hold the "Ctrl" key down and select the additional photos for upload. 6) Wait for the photo(s) to be uploaded to the Album. How to share a specific photo you have just uploaded 1) Whilst viewing the Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QvdZs2kL9cH3UmFV6 2) Click on the specific photo you want to share 2) Top right corner there should be a button to "Share" (looks like this symbol <) 3) A screen will pop up. 9. Absolute Tragedy - And makes me really think about how i would handle things if i was in that situation in an 18ft compared 39ft cruiser?
  10. I use a combination of BOM and Met Eye - the night before Weatherzone during the sesh I also use Rain Parrot - however not really for fishing but very good at predicting rain (in the next hour) - Good for avoiding rain during my morning and afternoon bike commute
  11. @Old Scaley does the Aldi model manufacturer user guide permit self-service maintenance once per year or does it require return to manufacturer? This is the only annoying thing about inflatables, doing the self-sevice. With the Burkes there is a manual (steps) and form that is ready made and can be filled out for any fisheries checks.

@MattInOz is spot on there is a poor positive or ground connection somewhere. Check all your connections are solid / clean and ground is good. This will be what is leading to the electrical gremlin.
  13. For comparison - I'm in a Bar Crusher 575c with a 100hp Yammie. (2012 model so its a bit long in the tooth now) Best i get is around 2.3-2.5km / L in the sweetspot. I can only manage 2.5km / L if it is completely glassed out conditions. Otherwise 2.3-2.4km / L is more the norm. Not that it needs a repower but would be interested to hear if newer outboards run more effieciently by much?
  14. Link on the website has some more information. Ozzy made. Specs look pretty good too as a plate boat. I'd go for a water test to see how it rides and whether it's comfortable or wet boat. Flagship | Townsville Marine As with all Flagship Plate Boats, they are built in Australia and features: 3 or 4mm bottom sheets depending on the model 3 mm side sheets Fastback available on most models Fully welded side decks Bow mount plate on most models Higher sides Wider boat Reverse chines on most models Extra wide side decks Heavy duty carpeted floors Transducer bracket The Flagship Range currently includes: 450 Destroyer 470 Destroyer 490 Destroyer (Centre and Side Console models available) 520 Destroyer (Centre and Side Console models available) 530 Cruiser Cabin boats 540 Freedom Cruiser Bowrider 620 Patrol Centre Cab
  15. I used to fish Deep water bend. Most success was on using livies from the cast net. Dead baits or Summer not a great spot as you will hook onto the catfish.
  16. What are SMART goals? The SMART in SMART goals stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. Defining these parameters as they pertain to your goal helps ensure that your objectives are attainable within a certain time frame
  17. That's pretty much my goal except instead of averaging once per week. I want to average once per month. I took the boat out only 5 times last year Fish at least 50 12 times. Land a big snapper on a lure/plastic. Get some good macks.
  18. I reckon Bank's should stock ATM's better. I went to 4 different ones and they all said insufficient funds.
  19. Line ratings and how they are specified probably seem to not have any standard as each region seems to have a different approach. This basically means you need a calculator / spreadsheet to convert PE ratings / line diameters / reel sizes to determine what line type and length you need.
  20. It's mainly because if you hook up to a decent fish that you may need to apply full drag / load. This may mean at times you could be pushing the limits of the Rod rating. In this case you want something "weaker" and cheaper than your rod to break. It most cases this means letting the braid line break to save your rod from breaking.
  21. Doable but I would say not ideal land based. I don't think they fight dirty but it might take a while to reel in land based.
  22. If we are in general agreement on the FG know. How does everyone tie their FG knot. Seems to be so many ways to tie it "right"
  23. I like @Junky's comment because a bad FG knot (done wrong) is going to be more prone to slipping then a simple uni to uni knot. If i'm luring and constantly flicking lures I'll use an FG knot so that the knot passess through guides easily. If i'm just bait fishing and knot thickness isn't an issue, I just use an improved albright which i can do easily (not quite blindfolded)
  24. Anyone getting this message at the top of the topics header when viewing from a Windows PC? Could be something related to the photo upload issue?
  25. @ellicat any word from the admins on photos being re-enabled? So that @Junky doesn’t make the kids go crazy?
