Some crazy catches there guys love it 😁😁😁 surprised how well the little hooks can hold up, but also how easily they break all the time!

Small jack at Bond Uni that ate a herring I hooked.
Best I've heard of is Youngy catching a Cobia on one of DI.

Not mine specifically but I was there. We were fishing for Jew in the Clarence River earlier this year. One of the guy’s girlfriends was into fishing but not that experienced in the salt. She was happy to catch the livies on a bream rod with light nylon and a bait jig. We got busted off a couple of times on 40lb gear. I was on my boat with her boyfriend and she was on my mate’s boat about 19 metres away when her rod buckled over. We assumed that she had hooked a decent bream because there were heaps around.
After about 10 minutes we figured it must be something a bit better. About 15 minutes later my mate slipped the net under something and over the side came a very healthy jew. The little jig hook was right in the corner of the mouth. She handled it like a pro and didn’t stop smiling for the rest of the trip. I blacked out her face because I haven’t asked her if it is ok to share online.

Mrs somehow brought in a bonefish on a cheapy $2.50 bait jig a few months ago. Can't remember the exact size but hell it went hard - the saying fun on light hear was very true!

Have also managed to pull in a 30cm school mackeral as well. No idea how the line didn't get snipped.

    Hey guys,
Just booked a weeks trip up to yeppoon next month. Have never been and am so excited!
Plan on doing most of my fishing from my boat around the islands, popping for trevally around rocky areas and flicking plastics around reef edges in hope for my first coral trout. The Mrs will be using bait, while I try and fit in using some lures in between re-baiting her hooks 🤪
Does anyone have any experience in the area / know of where to start sounding around? There's so many islands so I think it will be overwhelming on where to go - I'll be like a kid in a lolly shop!
Have a big fuel tank with 250 litres of fuel, so can travel out to more remote islands.
    Thanks!

Thanks guys shame about your trip Ed, hopefully you get up there next time without any trouble.
Thanks @Drop Bear I'll try both those options. Look forward to sharing a report. Time to study up on the greenzones

Nice one Marty what a good recovery from the slow morning.
Very new to fishing the seaway area. Are there any reefs that are pretty consistent with holding mackerel?
I've never caught one and am busting to catch a spaniard or a spottie (or just anything at this rate!)

Do you usually troll around a reef for a while, then stop and burley up if you see signs of fish?

Some people mount their trolling motors angled straight back (which looks as if it would be obstructed by the windscreen) while others choose to mount it so that the shaft goes diagonally back (so it doesn't take up as much deck space / avoid obstructions) which may work to clear the windscreen. As old scaley mentioned deployment is generally done by a pressing a lever which might be difficult to access in your case. Stowing is usually done by grabbing the head of the unit and pulling it up which I would think would be even harder. Not sure if the watersnake has a auto deploy option, although I suspect that might blow out the price.
Is that a hatch at the front you can pop up through to access the unit to deploy/stow?
