Thanks Steve! And to the other crew too! yes, both my sons and i have fished a lot together since they were little tackers. Its great to go out with them now they are adults and talk about the old days and the mishaps and funny stories ( that could have ended up in disaster). Hopefully a silver lining out of covid would be that families are spending more time together on the bay, camping or adventures that get them off those bloody phones and computers at least a little!

Not sure if this is going to work or not but with these rather boring rainy cold days, i thought this video might be entertaining. I might try using my phone to record more fishing trips from now on. (If this works) i usually fish with both of my sons but unfortunately only one could make it on this trip.

I was under the impression you shouldnt/cant wire your main battery to your electric motor agm battery? Because they both require different charging rates? Is the carbon agm battery different from a lead agm battery so they can be wired together?

I will undercut greg and help with install for just 2 x 750ml bottles of jack daniels and another one of those manhugs = $148
(Thats a saving of $20) which could buy you 7.5 ciggys or 4 bait jigs
( you can even get the jigs complete with hooks on em too )

Hey sunny,
The initial hookup and first run is pretty damn impressive on light gear, and we fish in shallow water which seems to make them hit like freight trains. I reckon the shallower you go the harder they run. In summer we go real shallow in 3-4metres and perhaps because the water temp is higher they seem to fight and run harder and for longer. In the bay shallows i compare them to big old 45cm+bream, quite cunning and wary, they dont get bigger by accident, so stealth mode and a whole lot of other tricks are important.
I know plenty of others catch their fair share of bay snapper too, i dont claim to know everything and i hope i dont come across as a big noter - thats not my intention, yes i just genuinely get excited and have an addiction to catching bay snapper and have tried sharing some of my experiences and tips with others on here and a fishing mag without giving too much away, (although i probably already have) , it takes a lot of donut trips to learn how and when to fish different spots, but either way i'm always learning new stuff and the adventure is always worthwhile!
Yes you're right the smaller snapper are definately better eating.
This summer Brian, Steve @ellicat @Old Scaleyand i are turning our attention to grass sweetlip and tuskies in the bay, can't wait! , and a lot tastier too

18 minutes ago, Kat said:Sooo if it is 6 hours per spot per tide - why do all your posts say something like "it wasn't long before...". Or "...back at the ramp two hours later."?
Because it took thirty f*%$@ years of 6 hours per spot per tide, day and night, 65754 cartons of beer, 665445 bottles of jack daniels and 76565677 ciggys to find out Kat...hahaaaaaa

With me cutting back work hours and no longer working fridays, (woohoo) , headed out friday midday for a quick session on the snapper with son in the bay, and to avoid the weekend madness!
Beautiful conditions greeted us as we cruised out near Green Island across a flat bay. To my surprise no other boats close to where we wanted to fish, spotlocked and unfolded my deckchair , cracked my first beer and sat back and relaxed up on front deck of tinny while son baited up and deployed two rods down the back.
Well it wasnt long before rod tips started to quiver.... then screaming reels!. I stayed up the front with my beer and proceeded to piss myself laughing while watching son trying to handle two hookups at once. The least i could do was help him net them i guess hahaaaaa.
Three snapper between 67 and 82cm came aboard to say hello, all released hopefully for us to meet again next year a little larger and who knows maybe finally even a 90 by then ?
Had a great afternoon with son, recorded some better video on my phone this time, ( given up on gopro) some more great memories for us to look back at.

That's what I'm thinking of - it being able to handle the waves. If only they made 55lb with a longer shaft.
We all want a longer shaft Brian
But dont forget... do you really want to be out there if the 55/ 54inch cavitates from the wave height or cant handle the current anyway?
Minimum of 120ah battery
I would give the boys at Brisbane Yamaha a call for advice, they are long term quinny and minny dealers.

Hahaaaa nice report mate funny stuff.
I had a great day out there with ya, cept i got home and saw how sunburnt i got from the reflection off your hi viz jumper.
How good was it when that wind died down.... soooo good, i love those little windows when the weather plays the game. And how good is it trying to get the rod out of the holder on that first run hey.... . Next time we go even shallower in 4 metres with 1-2kg bream gear.... woooohoooo hahaaaaaaa

Two old codgas, three bay snappers.
Rang Brian with no notice at 7am to meet me at the ramp at 9am for the Snapper Quest part 2. I didnt really know myself if i was going to have a crack today, but woke up, checked wind reports and decided to give it a go. Was fantastic to see Brian bring in the big ones, the smile on his face made me feel all warmnfuzzy, one of the best feelings ive had for awhile with my pants on, and the adrenalin was pumping for both of us with his first hookup. Well done mate
The last one may have been the 90cm pb, why didnt we unspotlock and chase? Duh, i didnt think of that at the time....
Will leave it to Brian to fill in his glorious details

Hahaaaaaa nice tech skills for an old codga
Well.... no it didnt really go to plan did it fellas?
My apologies...
i have never found it soooo hard to gather bait for flippin hecks sake. Nothing seemed to come together at all today... it was one of "those" trips.
It was a small tide so maybe the old saying of no run/ no fun played its part?
It was however a pleasure to catch up with you Brian and Steve, two fishing gentleman for sure, with a great sense of humour too.
The quest isnt over just yet....
