With work getting a bit quieter now i have been keeping an eye on the weather and today looked the goods to go out to Green Island for a sniff to see if the bay snapper had come again there yet this season to play.
Well the bad news was the east/ n easterly was a bit stronger than i thought and the eastern side of green was fairly lumpy
It wasnt dangerous at all but very uncomfortable.
The good news is the snapper have arrived there and i managed to catch my limit of 4 within a couple of hours, the first 3 were quite small, 2 at about 45cm and 1 at 55cm.
Then big papa came along at 71cm. I reckon there were bigger specimens to be caught but i left them for next time and called it early.... was sick of keeping my balance the whole time... gettin old

Yes, bycatch included bream and stingrays.
Only a few weeks to go before big bay snapper should appear at the usual haunts..
Wooooohoooo Bring it on

It's been awhile since i've had time to enjoy a fishing session because of work commitments.
Had a great night last night with my son going back to basics targeting some whiting in the shallows at a place we used to fish 20 years ago. Was good to keep it simple. Pumped some yabbies at dusk and fished the run in tide till abut 9pm.

Hahaaa @Hweebe
Im actually one of the working class mugs too mate... i just started holidays
i got up at 1.30, 45 minutes for me to port of brizzy boat ramp , plus time for me to stuff around at servo etc... although i dislike stuffing around .
i dont normally get up to fish at that hour, you can catch them in the middle of the day as well sometimes, but the conditions were right and just lined up the other night.
Dont worry, i still get tired for a couple of days and a sore back and aches and pains even after a short session but plenty of time for sleeping when im ten toes up
