im interested in purchasing a rod that i can throw lures around with aswell as use for baits , worms , prawns etc . what size rod would i need? and any particular style? id like an egg beater , so i can also use the reel on my larger 7" rod for live baiting , cheers

go to BCF (slacks creek), they have a good range of rods

I was looking at the Starlo stick today and IMO its good enough for bream, flatty and the odd Jew.

If your just starting out it has a good price too compared to the more elite brands on the market.

have a search around there are heaps of threads on here about "starting up gear". 7ft rod thats about 2-4kg will be perfect for throwing plastics and HB around and also for chucking out some smelly bait:X , and a reel between 1000-2000 is what id use with it, but you can go up to a 2500 size reel. best to go into a store and have a feel of the rods avialable
