Rod repairer

Hi!

Anyone have a recommendation for a rod repairer? I'm in Jindalee.

I've got a couple of bamboo rods my grandpa (deceased) made, probably near 50 years ago & I'd like to restore them to their former glory! It' mainly the runners that have been squashed or broken that need replacing.

Bamboo is amazingly flexible & strong, so I reckon they'll scrub up pretty well with a bit of attention!

Charltons tackle shop at redbank has a rod repairer that does really good work and has built me a costom rod before as well

I've seen a few of those done up and they look good with a silky oak alvey on them.

Not sure how you'll go getting some of the old white ceramic guides though. Might look strange with fuji's.

I'm not really too fussed about the aesthetics - I want to be able to use them! That's what Grandpa built them for!

I've thought of repairing them myself (there are some good videos on YouTube), but at the end of the day I'd more interested in it getting done properly!

If you want them to look original you will have to find someone with porcelain runners.

Try John Ford 32068048 he is at Redland Bay. I know he used to have some and he does good work and reasonable prices.
