One of the guys caught this at Flinders Reef on Sunday....

It actually looked it a bit rough and kinda manky up close but cool colours, anyone know what it is ??

That is an Eastern Blue Devil. Not that I am an expert on these matters, i simply looked it up in my AFN Fish Guide.

It says that it's also known as the Blue-Tipped Longfin or Paraplesiops bleekeri. It says they are protected in NSW and there is also a Western Blue Devil which seems to lack the distinctive yellow pectoral and tail fins.

That a beautiful fish mate (it's a shame he was so scratched up), good catch.

Thanks, I went to Google to check out the name and pic, looks like that it !

Yeah was a shamed it was banged up, maybe it just getting old or been chased by other fish a few times
