Hi guys its jnewys 50th birthday tomorrow and ther is a space in the rod racks for another rod.Iam wanting to buy a soft plastic rod for outside fishing on the reefs.So far i have found these rods at MOtackel dont know witch one to buy jon they are,Pfueger trion tournament 5 10 kg or a Shimano starlo stic 5 10 kg or a Berkley drop shot 6 10 kg any help would be appreciated cheers rach

gday rach, im not sure as to what setup would suit as i as of yet havnt got into the whole plastic scene.

surely one of you plastic fanatics can offer your opinion!

can't speak for the other two but I have a pflueger trion and it is a fantastic rod can't really fault it for the price, but I'd imagine it's really a matter of opinion. I know many people who use a trion exclusively as a soft plastic rod so it could be a good fit!

Mate Ive had the drop shot and it was a brilliant rod for plastics, I only went through a "Faze" of using though and now only tie one on every now and then, but the berkly was a tough alrounder, Until my brother closed the car door on it

All of those rods would do the job nicely, however as a personal preference I'd go with either the trion tournament or the dropshot.

I use 4-7 kg starlo tournament and the 3-6 kg in 1 pce and with 2500 stradic ci4 on the 3-6 and 4000 stradic ci4 and they loads of grunt and lite tip to cast a mile and twitch Plastics

yeah id go the dropshot.. there tough rods and great for flicking plastics, had a quick go of someones the other day and it was a beauty!!

I use a Dropshot 6 - 10 for outside stuff (and inside as my "livie"/"set" rod too). Not the best for casting as it is quite stiff, but no great casting necessity for plastics offshore.
