Lip Hooking Livies

A bit of advise if you will:

When Lip hooking Livies should you hook them with the mouth closed or just through the top part of the mouth?

I heard somewhere if you hook them with their mouth open they will drown?

I just hook them through the top of the mouth, doesn't seem to bother them too much

I hook them across the base of the nose.

OR I hook them in the back behind the dorsil fin but that all depends on what you're doing with them.

If you want to troll them or downrigger then I have abait needle and use elastic bands across the nose, you can use dacron if you like to but the band absorbs any shock nicely.

Hi Mate,

I always go through the top part of the mouth with circle hooks and they can go for ages plus they dont come off as easy compared to J style hooks.

I prefer to bridle all my livies including small mullet
