Trip north - Not much fishing

On our recent trip north the weather didn't play the game. From Gladstone to Bowen we were plagued with 30+ S/E winds and Rain. With the wind finally backing off for a couple of days we managed to get out on our last day in Bowen, not much of any size to brag about but still it was great to on the water and give the boat a good run.

Leaving Bowen and with the knowledge of another 3-4 days of good weather our hopes were high for hitting Dunk island and surrounds while staying at Mission Beach. This was not to be, on the Herbert River Bridge, just north of Ingham, the trailer broke a spring in front of the axel dragging it backwards and nearly flipping the boat into an oncoming road train. With the trailer under repairs for 3 days it was down to sight seeing in Tully & Mission.

Cairns saw the return of the bad weather, bad tides and the Reef fin fish closure, so the fishing was up the creeks and the Barron river. Picked up some small fish but did well on the crabs, this made Glenda very happy.

Took Glenda up for a Hot Air balloon ride for her birthday, early start up to the Tablelands

Still a nice way to spend a week.

Flew over to Darwin for 2 weeks. Done a couple of trips with a mate up the creeks and we were under gunned for these meter+ monsters.Glenda burnt out the drag washers on her good reel. But a good selection of Cod,Grunter,Fingermark all varying in sizes from mid 40's to high 70's were good fun to handle on the light gear. Picked up a couple of Barra on our last trip that went 70-80 cm.

There are more photos when I download Glenda's phone.

Back up there again next year with a bit heavier gear
