Lake Moogerah re-opens to secondary contact (on-water) activities, but remains closed to primary contact (in-water) activities
Date:
05/04/2017

Lake Moogerah has re-opened for secondary contact (on-water) activities such as boating, paddling and fishing, but will remain closed to primary contact (in-water) activities due to high microbial contamination.

This closure is in place for your safety. Rivers, creeks, lakes and other waterways are often affected by pollutants following heavy rainfall. Accidentally swallowing or inhaling affected water may expose you to these pathogens and cause infections and gastroenteritis-like symptoms.

We have more info in our water quality and recreation fact sheet.

We will continue regular water quality testing and will re-open Lake Moogerah to swimming, skiing and tubing as soon as it is safe to do so.

Please follow the directions of staff and signage on-site.

Lake Maroon has re-opened to primary recreation such as skiing and tubing.

The latest water quality test results indicate it is safe to re-open the lake to primary recreation following recent heavy rainfall in the catchment.

Play it safe and exercise extreme caution when accessing Lake Maroon as conditions in the lake may have changed during the closure. Please remain vigilant and be aware of submerged hazards.

Thank you for your patience during the recent temporary closure of the lake.

In the interest of public safety, Hinze Dam remains closed to all water-based activities until further notice.

Due to the recent heavy rainfall, the Eastern and Western boat ramps are not accessible.

We will re-open the sites as soon as it is safe to do so.

Please play it safe and follow the directions of staff and signage on-site.
