Hey everyone,

I've been pondering a question that's been on my mind lately: do trout eat frogs?

While trout are primarily known for their affinity towards insects like mayflies and caddisflies,

there have been anecdotes and studies suggesting that they might occasionally feast on amphibians like frogs, especially in larger bodies of water where frogs are more abundant.

However, it's essential to delve deeper into this topic. Factors such as the species of trout, their habitat, and the availability of alternative prey could all influence their dietary preferences.

It would be easier to name what aquatic animal and insect a trout would not eat...

Frogs would be a very common snack.

I have seen them slurp down skinks swimming across creeks a few times as well.

I have seen a snake headed gudgeon eat a gecko off the top of an aquarium. Was swimming around with the head still sticking out of it's mouth for a good six hours before it actually swallowed the whole thing.
