Poddymullet reacted to Allnighter in Bay Longtail Tooona Time !
Well, the stars aligned this morning for myself and my two sons, we all had time off work this morning and headed out for a quick fish from the Port of Brissy in search of any pelagics.
Bashed the beacons for awhile with no schoolies, so headed to an old mark where we have had success before in the middle of nowhere and was pleased to see on the sounder some massive bait balls 😊
Wasnt too long and off goes the Shimano baitrunner !
Nearly half an hour later and finally boated a nice Longtail Tuna which went just over a metre ...... 😊
Tried to swim it alongside boat for awhile for a graceful release but it was pretty gassed and ended up in the esky for dinnies.... (Lots of dinners i think)
Happy with that , so decided to make it a short session and back at the ramp by midday leaving behind a gloriously flat bay !

Well it's Snapper time in the bay again ☺
Been looking at seabreeze for a couple of days now and really wanted to head out on monday, tuesday or wednesday this week but the wind factor doesnt look good. I rarely go fishing in the bay on weekends but today was the opportunity where conditions were too good to pass up. Headed to spot x on the eastern side of Green Island with the Yammy singing at WOT where they were on the chew straight up.
Kept a couple for dinnies and returned a few in the 40cm or so range back down to grow for a year or two ☺
Missed another two absolute horses, one while i was having a pee over the side 😕 (why does that always happen) 😆
A good solo trip just 25 minutes from the ramp and look forward to a few more before 14th july ....

Went camping over the weekend at North Currigee camp ground on South Stradbroke island got there Friday morning and left midday Sunday. The wind was up most of the weekend so no offshore fishing but the seaway and broadwater were the go to for fishing.
Friday after setting up camp we went fishing down in the seaway after finding small live yakkas. 1st drop for both my deckies was a double hook up on jew after a quick measure both jew were just under size so back they went to swim another day.

We dropped another couple of jew then the tide started and they went quiet time to head back to camp. The arvo was spent greeting more crew and having a few coldies and beach fishing.
That night we sat around the fire it has been a while with fire bans for nearly 6 months. Saturday was windier and only the young lads went fishing fishing , off the pontoon was easier for me.
Saturday night was another top night around the camp fire after dinner. It turned out just some good camping with mates top spot and I will be going there again.

Sunday morning we had some showers after an early morning storm but we were well protected. We all left together around midday planning the next camp back there will be easy.

Focus on the beacons mate. you can spend all day chasing them but i find just anchoring near a beacon and throwing slugs and floating pillies all day does the trick. There are a few good tutorials on youtube for Moreotn Bay mackerel. below is a good simple tutorial

Hit up Palm beach reef for an early morning session a couple of days ago. Jumped currumbin creek bar and joined the other boats already anchored but luckily no one was on my usual spot.
We floated out pilchards and spun with slugs but it was all bait doing the work. The 1st fish hit the deck by 0500 and there was not much time before the next strike. We had double hook ups, tangles and plenty of fun keeping baits in the water.
All up we got 8 strikes and landed 5 big Spottie mackerel in just over an hour. We were back on the ramp by 0800 and filleting by 0830. The fresh fish went well on the bbq with family and friends.

i'd be looking to chase mackeral at this time of year, any of the beacons along the shipping channel in the eastern bay are a good place to start.
    Good luck.

The new Fads " fish attracting device" are being deployed today offshore from the sunshine coast right down to the gold coast there was 10 in total originally set to go in but we may see a couple of extras.
The dolphin fish are thick off south east Queensland now so they will find the Fads quickly and give us fishos more choice offshore.
The Queensland government is set to make an announcement by Friday and their coordinates for the Fads will follow.
It's good to be in the know on this project ( its not what you know but who you know) as I have been waiting eagerly for this to happen what perfect timing.

Having a bit of time off after recent surgery has given me the chance to give  my casting arm a bit of practice. Electric trailer winch is the next thing I need as putting the boat back on the trailer is killing me. Heres some pics of my recent outings.

Thanks Kelvin went to 33s and cathedrals no date yet for the fads they're going in offshore on the gold coast and sunshine coast and it also states Moreton bay but I assume they mean within Moreton bay marine area which takes in offshore Moreton island.

Went offshore with mopar kev on Thursday and what a magic day the weather was perfect. The bite was early and we both landed a couple of good snapper kev was 1st with 1 going 65cm then I landed a 75cm snap.
The quality was good and even found a few nice pearlies and a tusky. We had a look at the waverider bouy but to many boats had the dollies spooked. The new fads the state govt is putting in will be better as they tend not to spook as easily with proper fads.
Back home we drank beer while filleting our catch and cleaned the boat. Took a few pics

Bloodworms are hard to beat when targeting whiting. As a kid Digging bloodworms in the passage always resulted in us having whiting for dinner!
My son & I picked these ones up on yabbies in the passage yesterday along with plenty of bream that went back in the water.

Been fishing landbased around the Broadwater lately for a feed of whiting. Not in great numbers, but all a decent 30odd cm.
Using bloodworms for bait. They are so expensive that if you don't use them all you have to go fishing everyday until they are all gone. Bugger.

Poddymullet reacted to Old Scaley in Hooked Up With A Milf
Having been away for 3 weeks I was pretty keen to scratch the itch and get back on the water, so I was super keen to get a call from “the dentist” (he can’t be identified because he was on a day off work with industrial diarrhoea) suggesting that we head down the Pin area chasing muddies and whiting on Thursday.
We needed to be on the water at high tide so we could get the pots up some skinny water to spot X, and then needed to stay on the water until the next high at about 6.30pm to get back to the pots. So it was a long day, but quite comfortable with overcast sky as long as we could dodge the persistent northerlies. We flicked some hard bodies and plastics while we waited for yabbie banks to be exposed, but no flat fish were playing the game. We loaded up with yabbies and went to a favourite whiting spot.  Pretty soon the dentist had a 35cm whiting over the side and we thought “game on”. They were a bit hit and miss and we tried a few different spots as the tide moved and the wind blew.  Lots of bream around and we kept a few of the bigger ones as well as 8 good whiting. The dentist landed a spotted grunter so we had at least hit 2 of the target species.
At our last spot before heading off to get the pots, I had an unusual bite, then fish on. Nah, it’s a snag. No wait, the snag just moved. A minute later and up popped my first stargazer, one of the dentist’s favourites. So a new fish for me and hence a PB. Happy days. Not long after I had another unusual bite.  After the initial hook up, the fish seemed to anchor itself on the bottom so we called it for a ray.  I thought this was a pretty big Ray for the area as we often catch the small blue spots around the Pin area and this was a lot heavier and had a lot more go in it. After a prolonged battle where I wasn’t being too careful, we finally got a glimpse of the “ray” near the boat. The dentist called it for a brown Morwong and it was a big fish!  That made me sit up and take notice. All of a sudden I was very very happy that I had changed the braid on this reel the day before and had brand new 6lb with 10lb leader. But were  my knots up to the task, and would that size 4 whiting hook that was already bent do the job? The fish came close to the surface a number of times before I could get his head up so the dentist could slip the net under and drag it into the boat and I was one happy little fisherman.
We bled it immediately and checked the weight on my boga  grips - right on 10 lb in the old money so a pretty good fish for the estuary. Shortly after we headed off to grab the pots.  No legal muddies but a few that were only a mm shy of being in the esky, so they will live to be caught another day. Got back to the ramp at about 7.15 where we were greeted by the Fisheries boys.  Good to see them out and about at odd times.
Overall, a successful day with a good esky of fresh fish and 4 sand crab for our troubles. Last heard, the dentist was recovering well and expects to return to work on Monday when any hint of sunburn has gone.

Well with a friday off work and with a wet and windy weekend coming, i pondered the thought of heading to Mud for a quick solo session.
Checked the radar, didnt look too bad and besides the weather bureau always seem too early in their predictions. Lol
So hooked the tinny up, grabbed the rain coat and headed out.
ZERO trailers at the boat ramp, yep its official i'm the only mad idiot.
Conditions ended up being not too bad  across to Mud's western side.
Arrived at spot x, hit spot lock on the minny and enjoyed the serenity while looking back at brissy's ominous weather.
Anyways, landed a couple of good eating size snaps around the 65 cm range.
Headed home before dusk, made it safely back and happy i went afterall.
I should add that although wet, the forecast was only for 10-15 easterlies.

    G'day everyone,
I am back from an amazing part of Australia and have some stories to tell and things to share.
There is a lot to catch up on with real work and the new lure business also, I will get to photos videos etc as soon as time allows.
Rather than doing a full report with heaps of photos etc like i would normally, I will be doing small videos and releasing photos slowly to get whatever mileage I can to promote the business. (I don't expect I will be doing a trip like this for a very long time so I need to make the most of it).
I am expecting to release small videos of the trip on FB and the Gobblers web site so if you would like to follow that part of the journey you can.
One of the best investments I made before the trip was to buy that drone. It gives a whole new level of appreciation when you see where we were and the amazing places we saw.
Here is a small sample of what I mean.😉

    Cheers Wayne
