Enoggera is normally open but currently temp closure due to high water levels as below from SEQwater website. I have never fished there but believe it has resident population of spangled perch and has been stocked with bass by BVA but no idea of stocking density,North Pine dam and Kurwongbah both have good bass fishing with public assess areas and a boating access area in NPD. Have a look at the PRFMA website for details of the boating access scheme, Also browse the website for some great info on fishing NPD in particular but a lot of the info will apply to all dams n SEQ.
Redclaw currently going ok in NPD and Wyaralong and should improve with the recent dam levels increase. Be wary of fishing advice from some of the caravan parks in the Lockyer valley they will tell you anything o encourage you to come and stay. Ones starting with M are renowned for this. Wyaralong is starting to produce some good bass and the odd MRC plus carp and tilapia.'Hinze has no redclaw to speak of but plenty of bass,a sprinkling of yellas the odd MRC and is quite a good toga fishery It is recommended that you do not eat fish from Hinze due to elevated mercury levels in the fish. Cheers Ray

Enoggera Reservoir is temporarily closed for swimming until further notice
These closures are in the interest of public safety. We will re-open the lake to water based activities as soon as it is safe to do so.

    G'day cid...
Welcome to the forum. I agree, the weather right now hasn't been ideal. I went out today and didn't do to well either. Good job on the trevally and moses perch though, how'd they fight?
Fishing in the rain, in my opinion is most effective around river mouths or surf beaches. So if you go there, I believe you will do better. A bit of logic behind this, the freshwater will wash them out around the mouth, and they will be hanging away from the dirty water and in the cleaner stuff.
    Cheers Hamish 🙂

Yea na its too late to repair I’ve already chucked it . I’ve had a bad history with the sienna series of reels so I thought by buying a cazna it might end the bad luck .even though It was just a coincidence  . This first started when i got the new 2019/2020 sienna fg reel the one i got had a lot of play in it and it was smooth but not as smooth as the fe so I returned it and got the fe . Fe was great until this happened . And also the cazna is was cheaper then usual thats why I bought it. Edit and no saltwater got in there i pulled the whole reel apart and there was zero sign of any salt or wear and tear

    Hi Breaming with Bro
Like kmcrosby78 said, that is very unlucky. I haven't owned one that size but the one i have owned has been going good for 7 years. If you go to the tackle shop/reel repairer, they might have some knowledge on what happened, otherwise another member on the forum might. Did you get any salt water in there, and if you didn't, it might just be a bit stiff because it's brand new or needs an oil/lube.
    Cheers Hamish 🙂

Sounds very unlucky mate, I've had a 2500Fd and 4000FD Sienna now for about 10yrs and still going strong (the 4000 despite being dropped into saltwater ..... makes a slight noise but still very workable).
How do they tell if you've pulled it apart ....... (unless it hasn't gone back together properly and sounds like a coffee grinder of course .....).

I recently got the shimano sienna 2500 fe great smooth reel. After 1 fishing session i noticed the anti reverse system didn’t work anymore . So silly me thought why don’t i open the reel and check it out after doing that I couldn’t even find the problem anyway so then I realised about shimanos 10 year reel warranty i had . Read the conditions and it said something about once a reel is opened and put back together they won’t except it . So i was a bit sad about that . So i took the whole  entire  Reel apart and put it back together see if it will fix anything. 1 it didn’t fix the anti reverse and now the reel felt like a coffee grinder for same reason . So i tossed the almost brand new reel in the bin and kept the spool and reel handle . And I bought the shimano cazna 2500 to replace it . A bit disappointed but atleast the sienna i got was cheap . The cazna i picked was $47.50 on special so I quickly bought that as I’ve heard the really good value for money reels . And there also pretty smooth . So im looking forward to getting that and not worrying about the $50 i wasted on a dud sienna . Has anyone else had or heard about siennas doing this? Thought it was unusual as siennas are usually a go to reel for budget lure fishermen

At least i did not donut although Stew and Mark in the bow outfished myself and Tai in he stern. Fishing was a bit hard with the only real productive spot being the flats on the snags. The water level has risen about a foot with the dam capacity now on 59.6% an increase of 1.9% over the last couple of days. I am not impressed with the changes to SEQ waters website. Previously all I had to do was search for recreation and safety notices and it would display all the current notices on the one page. This is what you get now

    Hi all
I know this probably won't be that interesting, but here's Brisbane River Session #6 🙂
So, I woke up and it was raining. I looked around for my Dad, but he had left to set up the Scout Sausage Sizzle we are having at Bunnings today. I slept back in for about another 20 minutes, then got up. I didn't find a raincoat, so I just went in my normal shirt. There was a bit of heavy rain at the start but after about 45 minutes the sun came out.
While it was raining, in about 10 minutes of arrival, I took my first catfish on a piece of prawn. My second rod went off but I didn't get to it because I was dealing with the first one lol. I rebaited, this time with a shrimp, and in about 20-30 minutes, I was on again. After about ten seconds though, I knew it wasn't another catty. It was taking line, felt very heavy and not coming up. In the fight, about 40 seconds though, he rasped/bit through my 12lb mono leader *anger, disappointment, annoyed*. I felt the line while re-rigging, which is where I found out he rasped through it, which makes me think it was one of these three-
    -Threadfin Salmon
    -Pike
    -Freshwater Eel
Whatever it was, it's got a hook in his mouth so if I re-catch him, I'll know who he is (hopefully it doesn't rust or get spat 😉) For the rest of the day, I had one more run, but didn't connect. It didn't feel big anyways. I did notice some interesting things though. Normally when I'm fishing for sharks (which was the primary target species) I've been fishing the run out. This time, it was rising all morning and one of the highest tides I've ever seen. While I was watching the lines, I did see a big jump/bust up on the other side of the river, it was silver, so either a shark, salmon or big catty. While I had my line in the channel made in between the jetty and bank as well, I saw a catfish do a big boof on the mangrove too, it gave me a fright but at least I knew they were there. After that, I fished for about another half hour, but I left when my Dad came down and when it started to heat up.
    Here are the statistics too:
    Statistics of Trip
Fish caught: Catfish x 1, big bust off
    Baits used: Prawns, Shrimp, Mullet
    Tide: Rising, .1 low, 4:00AM, 2.6m high, 10:40AM
Moon Phase: Over 50% but not quite full
Tackle: 14lb braid mainline, 12lb mono leader, 20lb fluorocarbon leader, 30lb braid mainline, 80lb mono leader, 80lb Halco wire trace 40-50cm
Weather: 26c, 83% humidity, rain, cloudy
    Bait Caught: -
Overall Success: Target species were not caught, but it was still nice to get out for a fish 🙂
I hope you enjoyed the report, sorry there are no photos but I caught nothing worthy 😉

According to Ern Grant, he thinks it is just a damaged claw that has regrown the same as when they regrow a lost claw. So I don't think it would affect the flesh/taste.
Certainly have to be a bit more careful.
