Fish ID

Took the dog up to Brisbane river in the freshwater reaches for a splash and run. River was up a bit since the last time I was there about the start of the year. Enjoyed standing in the middle of the river, watching sprangled perch swimming around my feet, casting lures and bait, and dog swimming around grabbing lillies from the river and then going to shore waiting for me to chase her around.

Can anyone help me with this fish ID. I have caught these a couple of times but usually in the bait net. This one took a shrimp. They have got big mouths.

Yes that second pic is a dead ringer for it. It is well named as there mouth is quite big.

I head up towards wivenhoe on the ipswich and then Brisbane Valley highway, I think, past the skirmish place and then turn right into pine mountain road, I think, then take a left and there is a bridge over the river

4 sure a mouth almighty i use to have one in my fish tank that i got in a net from around there
