Gone off Herring

Went for a fish to the seaway this morning, wet windy and very miserable, but the good thing is that i had a good live tank full of herring.

But fished for two hours and not a bite and had the same last week as well, previously i have done well with herring catching tailor jewies and big bream.

Is this normal for this time of year, anybody else having the same trouble.

When that happens I throw out some strips of cut bait.

I also use live mullet as well as it seems to be a very productive bait over herring at times.

If you want Jew it might be good to try a butterflied mullet (or herring maybe).

I have used live herring on the last two times I went, and never got a bite either despite changing locations from estuary to the bay. Going back to lures as I just went and bought some new lures & jig heads!!
