Whilst on our recent cruise we went on the White Pass rail from Skagway Alaska to the Yukon.

This rail was built between 1898 and 1900 to supply the gold mines in the Yukon. The rail is regarded as one of Civil Engineering landmarks of the worls alongside the Eiffel Tower,Panama Canal and Statue of Liberty.

Our train consisted of 12 vintage carriages dating back to the early 1900's and 3 diesel electric engines.

Here are the photos.

Before the opening of the railline a bloke called Brackett built a toll road suitable for mules but the miners refused to pay any tolls and blew up the road.
