i have heard that there have been jewies caught on live baits at the jetty i was thinking of fishing all night with livies?

where would the best place to cast net some live bait that is near the jetty?

heaps of spots on the way/down near the jetty mate. you can stop at any of the canal estates on the way through from the M1, or on the way up the road to the jetty, you'll see a few spots to stop or once you get to the jetty, follow the road around a bit to the end and there is a little beachy area down there that you could chuck the net off. never tried but there'd have to be some sort of bait around there

Me and my mates cast net at the boat ramp and pontoon under the goldcoast highway. Also at the boatramp straight after seaworld. Catch herring, sometimes pike and squid. We have caught mullet there only once though.

would i be better off jigging for live bait on the jetty?, what kind of live bait would i catch

I usually jig yakkas up when fishing of the jetty. YES plenty of jew have been caught of the jetty, get yourself a rope gaff. The main catch will be sharks, when using live bait. And be prepared for tangles and blueing with our foreign friends when they cast over you. Best bit of advise, fish of the very end.

Unless you walk them back to the beach, no theres no other way. All the jigs work the same, just depends on hook size, size six from memory (very small) and put a bit of pille or prawn on the hooks to get some more luck.
