Does anyone know if Breakfast Creek is good?

Is Breakfast Creek at Newstead house in Brisbane a good spot for fishing. What type of fish can be caught there and any advice on bait???

Yes. Jew, Threadfin Salmon, Flatties, Bream, Bullsharks all come out of there. There are lots of reports on the forum if you have a look through.

Great spot Decsee,

Ive caught good bream, flathead, 90cm plus threadies and up to 90cm bull sharks there, it fished fairly consistently until the floods, since then I havnt fished it but ive heard of guys catching the odd smaller thready and some ok jew there. If you go to the park bench that faces downriver right at the mouth, flick a lure like a jackle maskvib 70 that you can bounce along the bottom, cast a good 30 to 50 meters and you'll find there is a sandbar right in the mouth, ive caught some good thredies on that drop off. I have caught most fish there on live mullet.

Mate I just use a cast net for mine, Ihavnt heard of anyone selling live mullet but you can catch them by the truck load around the place if you have a cast net..

You'd have to have a look around when it comes to price. They arent cheap, If you havnt used one before, someone will be able to show you or there are great youtube videos and then practice practice practice (on the lawn is a great place to practice!) Look around places like amart, big w, ebay, bcf anaconda, someone usualy has a special.. a six footer would do for a start. There is a boat ramp at beaky creek not far back up the creek from newstead that gets a few mullet or further back on the other side of the creek at the rowing club can be good too
