guy i was wondering if i can get some info on a gas cook top,what i want to do is buy a gas cook top from bunnings or where ever and run a normal gas bottle from it ,can this be done if so any help would be great,thanks brad

if you purchase a cook top designed for LPG its no problem.

Remember some will come ready to run on Natural Gas.

Burners/pilot lights, jets all have to be changed.

Line pressures are different

Just order 1 for LPG.

Then bung on a rregulator and bottle and away you go.

thanks shortie,do you know of a place where i can look at thease as the ones at bunnings are not for a bbq bottle or even a web site to look at i cant seem to find anything.brad

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but i don't think you will find a cooktop with a bayonet fitting to take a gas bottle. They are only meant for portable appliances like bbqs etc. Also legally it needs to be hard piped and have an isolation valve + regulator.

All the domestic gas cooktops I have seen have a built in regulator and come with 2 sets of jets so you can use them with mains gas or bottled gas.

as far as im aware most of these cooktops come with a pipe type nipple. some already come with a regulator adjusted to suit the cooktop burners. Then screw in the flexible pipe to a supply.

Remember most modern gas cooktops also need elect supply to power the ignition.

The brand bunnings sell. Note on the specs either comes in LPG or natural Gas.
