Hi Everyone, hope they are biting for you.

Everytime I try and put in a GPS coordinate on my Lowrance Elite 5 it directs me to spots past Hawaii, sounds like a nice place but a bit far for a day trip and also my hula skirt is at the drycleaners, What am i doing wrong, the coords i use are local ones - i.e. hutchies, flinders, and the bay.

i had a similar problem a while ago, and found out that there are 3 different ways to write GPS coordinates. I had to convert the coordinates to the format gps uses, it is easy just google 'gps converter'. The best way to find out what your gps uses is to have a look at one of the waypoints you have marked on the unit, or I'm sure someone on here will have the same unit and can tell you what to convert it to.

check what datum your gps is running on

From my experiece in Australia we use GDA94.or WGS84 format, I think the differnece being minutes and on handheld gps only accurate to 5 mtrs wont make a difference.

MAke sure yours in set to this. Put in a coordinate and test.
