Castneting from a boat.

Hi everyoneB)

Over the last year or so I have become handy with the cast net land based.

Have tried castnetting from the boat a few times without too much success. I can get the net to open up just fine but seem to spook everything when I approach, even if I kill the motor and glide in.

I am particularly interested in targeting prawns. What are the best tides, times, areas and depths of water to cast into?

How do you avoid snags?

Would be very greatful for any tips.

Go at low tide and check for snags, that's you best bet. Try to find a big mud flat.

High tide for me is best.
