 Get Ready to Go Fishing!

 Make sure you’ve got your tackle rigged and ready to take part in the inaugural “Go Fishing NSW” Day to be run by DPI at six locations across the state on Sunday, December 6, 2015, from 10am-3pm.

Whether you’re a keen fisher or a novice, the “Go Fishing NSW” Day promises to deliver a range of fun-filled activities including free “try fishing” sessions, casting competitions and displays.

Fishing is a fun, outdoor activity for the whole family. If you have ever thought about trying fishing or are already a keen fisher, get down to one of the six locations for the “Go Fishing NSW” Day.

The six “Go Fishing NSW” locations include:

  • Kurnell, Sydney, KamayBotany BayNational Park (at end of
    Captain Cook Drive
    )
  • Nowra, GreysBeach on ShoalhavenRiver (
    Fairway Drive
    )
  • Coffs Harbour, Boambee Creek Reserve
  • Narrandera Fisheries Centre, Narrandera (
    Buckingbong Drive
    )
  • Jindabyne, Gaden Trout Hatchery (off
    Kosciuszko Road
    )

Free seafood tastings will be available at CoffsHarbour, Kurnell and Nowra while hatchery tours will be offered at the inland locations.

The free “try fishing” sessions (for ages 5 and up) will be held every hour during the Fishing Day (10am - 3pm).  Just register on the day at your local event.  There’s no need to bring your own fishing tackle as gear will be provided for the sessions.

Narrandera is the only location where you can pre-book for the “try fishing” sessions. Please phone  6958 8200 or 6958 8207 to make a booking.

Plus there are free “goodie” bags with lots of “fishy” giveaways at all locations.

If you can’t get to one of the six locations, don’t worry as you’ll be able to join in on the state-wide “Go Fishing NSW” Day event and go in the draw to win one of 50 Shimano rod and reel fishing combos. To participate, just take a photo of yourself fishing in NSW on December 6 and email it to gofishing.nsw@dpi.nsw.gov.au. Ebor, Dutton Trout Hatchery (Point lookout Road)

You can also participate by taking a photo of yourself collecting litter from your favourite local fishing spot.

All emails with photos sent in to DPI will go in a lucky draw for the rod and reel fishing combos.

For more information, visit the website, email gofishing.nsw@dpi.nsw.gov.au or phone DPI on 4424 7421.
