watching nye fireworks from boat on brissy river??

hi guys. i remember reading on here a few weeks back that a permit had to be applied for to enter the exclusion zone on the river on NYE. i was just wondering if anyone here knew if was still worth doing from out side the zone and what area/stretch of the river would still be accessible to do so from. any info would be great sheers. hope everyone has a good new years
