Can You Leave A Tinny In The Water?

Hi there,

Newbie here.  I’m very novice but keen on fishing and I’ve been offered a very solid little tinny for a great price.  Unfortunately it doesn’t come with a trailer and our box trailer has a tall fixed cage and I would find it too difficult to get it on and off.  Are you allowed to leave a tinny on the beach?  Or anchored slightly off the high tide line?  We generally fish at Jacobs Well so thought it might be possible to take it there and leave it there somewhere?

Interested to hear your thoughts.  Never owned a boat before.  Thanks in advance.

Congrats on acquiring the boat mate. I'm not sure on the legalities of leaving it anchored or on the beach but the immediate concern that springs to mind is security (ie. would it be there when you return?). Do you have room at your place for a boat trailer - if you keep an eye out you could probably pick one up second hand for not too much. How long is the boat?

I think it’s about 3 1/2 metres.  We haven’t actually bought it yet, just weighing up the pros and cons.  I just know we would use it much more if we didn’t have to move it each time.  I can’t find any second hand trailers worth buying as we will only be paying $800 for the boat itself, which is why it’s feasible for us to buy.  Our budget is very limited right now but we’d be completely happy with this little tinny as a starter boat.  It’s just very heavy as it’s an older one.  Thanks heaps for replying.  Really appreciate it.
