Yeah they are good.

But as mentioned earlier, depends on the water.

The bigger dams like Wyvanhoe and North Pine they would have cleander flesh than say some of the ponds they habitate. I would not eat them from Bulimba creek for example as there used to be a tannery on that creek.

I also have heard that Tilapia are good eating.

Imust say though, that the rule that you can't have them in

your posesion is a bit pointless, what can dead fish do?

Does anyone have any ideas why this is the way it is?

THe reason is that they are an extremely hardy fish, the eggs can survive for a long time in a dead fish, and they are what they call mouth breeders, they store their live young in their mouth, where they can also survive for long periods after the adult is dead. If the fish ends up in another waterway, even if dead for a while, there is a good chance its eggs or young in its mouth may survive, and infest that waterway.

Ah - this is true what you speak Feral - however I belive they are Mouth Broaders - that is why one type are called Mozambique Mouth Broaders.

But realy why I know - one that I caught recently coughed up a heap of eggs when I stabbed it in the head.
