  1. Great effort mate, pity about the Marlin, but to get the eat is choice
  2. It's about 30klm to Tangas, so if you cruise at 35-40 klms.......
  3. A mate got his Seajay 4.3 re-rated from a 50 to a 60 by a marine surveyor, no probs
  4. In my opinion and I have a 5.5m centre console it's will be fine. Just make sure you understand the "wind-against-tide" theroy. Tomorrow the tide will be dropping in the morning and you'll have a slight easterly wind, which means as you head out to Moreton there might be a bit of chop until you get closer to the main beacons. You'll be fine in the arvo coming back
  5. Thanks for the tip @samsteele115. Got some nice Spotties and the head of a longie All on lures unfortunately. Didn't make it to Rooneys as he missus didn't think an hour and a half steaming was romantic.
  6. @Drop Bear I was on the Moreton Bay Working Group last year as a scientific adviser (I was a Fisheries Stock Assessment Scientist for DPI in a another life). So if you satisfy the criteria for membership, you should considered. What's Shellfish group makeup?
  7. I appreciate that many have a healthy scepticism around these processes, but if we don't express an opinion then we have no one to blame but ourselves if policy changes aren't in line with our views. Rant over Norm
  8. 12W for the Blacks and the 10WT for the longies with a size 2 surf candy it is then. Thanks @samsteele115
  9. @samsteele115. We need to talk Sneaking up to HB this weekend with the missus for a few days, if the weather holds will go for a run up to Platypus to see if any Blacks want to play on the fly gear .. Norm
  10. Hey @fishingnut. Pics are bit small for me to see the specs, can you enlarge them at all?
  11. But if I am luring I only use these now, so easy to attach and will not open/fail Mustad Fastach Clips
  12. This probably a bit late but in my experience (and with my precious ones) I always throw in a packet of prawns just to make sure the kids don't have donut days. It keeps them keen to come out with you again in future. P.S. One of my boys got a Schoolie on a slug last week and was super stoked
  13. If you can find it, Erskines drag lube is brilliant (it's light blue n colour). I use it on all my fly reels and have virtually zero start-up inertia
  14. Some solid Macs there mate. Send 'em down to MB
  15. JayCar have lithium ones 7.5 AH for $70. Two great things about lithium 1. It's light 2. You can run them right down without wrecking them
  16. "space for a coffee grinder and filter setup" Priorities spot on there! Being a tad older I would have found room for a cheeky hip[flask as well
  17. I've got a pair of 92Ah (K20 rated) Banner AGMs from Battery Value here in Brissy. Nice specs on them, they do go higher Ah but don't seem to be in stock. Peter is a good guy to deal with and he might have other batteries to fit your need
  18. No, secret squirrel flies....If that doesn't work then yes... bloody Vampires
  19. My first boat was a 3.7 tinny with a 15 on the back. Great for southern bay (The Pin especially) and as @Do$tylz says, just stay close to land. I launched from Manly and either fished out the front of Lota Creek or snuck up to the boat passage. Heaps of options if you're smart about it. I did go to Mud once, cracked every weld on the way back when the arvo SE kicked in
  20. @Drop Bear You might gather from my comment that that side of me was a loooooong time ago. Circa 1980? Black Queen Deluxe or Erskine Deluxe were fantastic for detecting the bites of very wiley Mitchell River bream
  21. Tell ya mate the Erskine Deluxe eats the Black Queen for breakfast
  22. rascally reef ridden rocks I'm a totally broken Monty Python fan. I couldn't read the above without the translation "wascally weef widden wocks" Purple prose at it's best @Drop Bear
  23. I got a diagnositc done on my motor to show it was perfect. You'll sell it much quicker if you do tings like that and take some good photos. Sex sells!!!!!
