  1. Most are government owned but are rented/leased out on a long term basis. So I don’t believe just rocking up and tying off is permissible. That being said - there’s absolutely nothing to stop you anchoring for the night in a quiet sheltered location - I have done many overnight trips in the bay and always just dropped the pick - be it in my old 5.3m glass boat or the old mans 11.5m steel yacht. Set a drag alarm on the gps if you are worried about waking up in a different location. Definitely pick a shallower area out of the main channels with a sand or mud bottom, much easier to get the anchor to bite in hard and stay there.
  2. Agree completely here. There is plenty of good ground there but you can only fish it at best an hour either side of the change on a small tide. On a big moon and mid-tide the current can be 4-5kn in places along there, completely unfishable and not a great time to try and anchor either.
  3. I’d agree on sand bass. looks like a good day out and a few good feeds.
  4. Whole weekend looks pretty good to be fair. Hope all those that have the time and the means get out and get amongst them.
  5. Salt water contains dissolved minerals, therefore is more heavy. Sodium and chlorine are both heavier atoms than hydrogen or oxygen. Don’t they teach science at your school? what usually happens is similar to a how a thermocline works or even an inversion layer in the fog. A pocket of more dense salty water tends to get trapped under the more fresh stuff and the two don’t really mix. however there is a limit when the fresh will completely flush the salt out if the flow is strong enough for long enough.
  6. Can we please also place a restriction on @GregOug posting when under the influence of more than one red wine? i didn’t get an email but looking forward to the reports from @Old Scaley and @rayke1938 after their experiences. Unless they don’t want to talk about it after...
  7. I clean all crabs before cooking. Muddies or sandies. After a decent fresh like we are getting, the mud crabs tend to get flushed out of the creeks and shallower bits as the don’t like the fresh water. Salt water being heavier sits in the deeper parts of the system under the fresher stuff on top. So it is better to drop your pots in deeper areas but not far from “ideal habitat”. bait - I prefer chicken frames for muddies but mullet frames work. Fresh bait is a must. If it stinks, chuck it and start again. i like to check reasonably regularly (approx 2 hours) if I’m on the water but everyone is different here. I have certainly left them in overnight at different times. one thing to note - if putting pots in deep water make sure you have enough rope and enough weight to hold them in place. Use a brick if need be as an extra weight.
  8. This could also describe @ellicat after I take him rock fishing... glad all is going well with the recovery mate. Might be a bit more water in the dam by the time the weather clears too!

I just want to go on record and express exactly how much I HATE parra. They are the new manly as far as being the refs darlings and they also contain Ferguson and gutherson. Nuf said. oh and they stuffed mine (and probably 95% of other people’s) tips tonight.
  10. If I had marks I really wanted to keep I would write them down in a notebook and email them to myself as well. That way if the unit had an emotional problem I could manually upload them into a new unit. Old school tech, free and effective
  11. No, it really doesn’t... you need to come to one of my bbqs if your meat looks like that! hope the recovery goes as well as it possibly can ray, hope to see you back out giving the new knee a test drive before too long!
  12. Some nice fish land based there mate. What bait did the damage? also - is the darker red fish a paddletail?
  13. Chicken... can’t make those sort of predictions unless you back it in i don’t think they’ll get the spoon but bottom 4 is a definite possibility... but it is for the broncos and cowboys as well so...
  14. Top 8 1. Raiders 2. Panthers 3. Bunnies 4. Storm 5. Roosters 6. Eels 7. Titans 8. Knights GF - bunnies vs raiders premier - bunnies spoon - dragons origin - NSW 2-1 (tipping very much with head and not heart)

  19. Hi all, going through a bit of a rationalization of my collection and decided it might be time to move a few friends to new homes. Purely because I don’t get to use them as often as I’d like and they are currently collecting dust. 1. Live fibre 8–10kg 8ft spin, one piece. Great rod for rock fishing, bay fishing and light offshore. Used to run 25lb on it. Few general “signs of use” but overall very functional. SOLD to @GregOug 2. Live fibre 15-24kg 8ft spin, one piece. This rod is a deadset beast. So much grunt but still great feel. Used to run 50lb for reef fishing, LBG fishing and live baiting pelagics. Casts heavy baits and lures out of site from the stones. Few general “signs of use” but overall very functional. Sad to let this one go but I just don’t use it any more to justify keeping it. PRICE DROP - $125. 3. Live fibre 4kg 5’6” baitcaster and shimano caenan 100 reel combo. Reel spooled with 15lb braid. Rod and reel both in good nick, great combo for trolling from kayak and float lining in the bay. PRICE DROP - $130 for the combo. 4. Shakespeare custom stick 6-12kg 7ft overhead. Rod in pretty good nick. Great for bay and floatlining. PRICE DROP - $25. 5. Ugly stick 5-6kg 5’6” baitcaster. Penn ultimate 12-15kg 6’ overhead. Used to use this one when I was researching and was catching a lot of sharks. Landed a 22kg GT off 1770 on this rod. PRICE DROP - $20 If interested either reply or flick me a PM or if you have my number send me a text. thanks benno
  20. Not really mate. Use a decent length of rope with a bit of stretch in it to allow for a bit of give if it’s a bit choppy. Just go with “cruise” speed not flat out and you’ll be sweet.
