Thanks @Hweebe that's good to know.
If I can't find anything else worth giving a go I will try the boat harbour resort again. The staff were friendly, room was nice and it's very close to the boat ramp. It just felt a bit awkward when I asked how I can plug my charger in - it was like they had never had the question before, and I felt a bit awkward using a tap that was connected to one of the live-in resident's villas (Which was offered by the staff, just felt odd messing around near peoples property).  I also managed to get a flat tire because there were screws left around from the building site (which wasn't the staff's fault, it just soured the trip along with a few other nightmarish things that occurred)
Funnily enough I actually hadn't considered a self service car wash - that might be the go if I can find one that's not enclosed (need at 3.5m clearence for boat)

@Drop Bear thanks for those two suggestions, will check those out!

That's great to know about the new tap - what a relief.
I know exactly what you mean about the difficulty of finding info about which accomodation have trailer parking, you're so right it's not something that's pushed as a selling point. A missed opportunity really, considering how many tourists come to hervey bay for boating.
Some people can be so sour - I'm sure it's better having some boaties staying making a little noise when preparing / washing up than having drunks making noise trashing the place.

    Hey!
Hope I have put this in the right forum category - apologies if not!
I'm really wanting to do more weekend getaways from Brisbane up to Mooloolaba (due to it's opening to the ocean) and up to Hervey bay.
I'm really struggling to find air bnbs / any accommodation that has a safe place to park the 6.3m boat, let alone somewhere to park that has power to charge the 36v minn kota battery setup, and ideally a place to wash down the boat (now I'm getting picky! But worried about rust, given my post recently about rust on my new trailer).

Does anyone know of any good accommodation that might be suitable up that way? I have tried the boat harbour apartments in Hervey bay but there wasn't anywhere with power and they were building a new set of buildings which look to take up a chunk of the trailer parking.

    Thanks!

Just a quick tip and reminder for everyone here, while ducking outside to check on the battery chargers in the boat i for what ever reason decided to give the wheel a quick wiggle, well one of my wheel bearing were loose as a goose ! A quick tap with a rubber mallet released the bearing buddy and revealed a horrible brown mess (water and grease). A quick tidy up with a whole heap of rags revealed the bearing was still OK and good to go, a guick repack and tighten and im back on the road again.Just goes to show what I thought was good trailer bearings nearly bit me in the bum big time so just goes to show its never too late to give your nuts a wiggle and make sure there up to the task.
    Cheers

Hey @Hweebe how did you go up there? Are there any marks that you that you thought were especially good, or on the flip side a bit inaccurate?

I used some marks for up there from fishing boating exploring dot com dot au fairly recently and didn't have much success with locating structure, even when sounding around the general area of the marks

Hey @GregOug thanks for that article that was interesting. The trailer is always stored in a shed and is washed with rain water. I'm baffled as to how any water has penetrated through the tectyl - perhaps the application is too thin? It was applied with a paint brush and had days to cure before seeing any salt water.
Dunbier has agreed to fix the weld, and from the few images they believe there was moisture stuck in between the surface and the application of tectyl.. However I made sure it was cleaned throughly and waited days between washing when applying the tectyl, and did it in the afternoon to avoid possibility of dew on the surface.
They have advised to immediately remove the tectyl from trailer. Not sure how I would even do that.
When touching the rust it's powdery to touch

This is the worst part of the trailer, right up the back

Hey @kmcrosby78 thanks for that link it was a very interesting read indeed. The crack is on the forward most horizontal bar that is welded to the main frame

    Hey guys,
I felt that I gave my boat and galv trailer a very thorough wash after using it last. Cleaned the whole thing from top to bottom, giving the trailer special attention. About a week or so later when I saw my boat again I noticed these white spots all over the trailer, and am wondering if its just salt or white rust? Have attached images.
My trailer has been painted with tectyl 506 as well about a month or two ago.
Have also attached a close up of a weld on the trailer, is this concerning for a brand new trailer? Hope you can make out the crack (pointed to with orange arrows) that goes across each weld.

With this last image, these dark grey spots have been there for a while. I had to apply tectyl in stages over two weekends. Does it look like corrosion has occurred here on the part that hadn't been coated yet?

    Cheers!

You're welcome @Old Scaley . Yep indeed had to get the bow rail removed. Hopefully you can avoid it if possible 🙂
It is an anderson plug - that's exactly right it allows me to remove the minn kota easily with the quick release bracket. Not too sure on the battery box, but that's prompted me to think about putting the battery in a box myself - seems like a sensible thing to do!

Hey @Old Scaley no worries happy to answer any questions you have, no expert here but happy to share my own experience of it! I have a horizon easyfisher 435.
So I got quoted between $3500 and $4000 but I ended up getting it supplied and fitted with the battery for $2900 including the quick release bracket from Brisbane quintrex which I thought was very reasonable! The thruster plate, bow rail removal and battery plate got done else where, think I only paid about $90.
Have attached a few photos if it helps at all. The angle of mine goes straight back, I've seen others where it sits on an angle out to the side.
I was worried putting the battery at the back with the added weight and I'm really glad I put it at the front. Have noticed no impact on the ride using the yammy.
I have to manually put it on charge after I've used it, unlike my other battery which runs the lights, bilge and sounder. I've never had it run out of battery (even after forgetting to put it on charge! )
I've only used the quick release bracket once for a trip from Brisbane to baffle creek, but I'm sure I'll use it more on future trips.
Let me know if you have any other questions or would like some other photos - sorry they're a bit dark 🙂

As promised, here's a few pics of my new Stessl 630 Coast runner.
Have taken it out twice and am absolutely loving it. Super stable (thanks for the larger reverse chines that was introduced in the platerix 2 hull design) it ploughs through the chop compared to my 4.3 tinny.
It has a 250l fuel tank and is backed by a 150hp yammy. With the centre cab design you can easily walk around the entire boat and the cab has enough room for me to lie down comfortably (I'm 6ft). For when it gets choppy I have a front clear I can attach to enclose the gap between the windscreen and the roof.
There's a big auto deploy minn kota coming as well 😁😁😁
We also put in a travel buddy marine oven, which is mounted in the under seat storage so we've been smashing hot croissants and pies while on the water! Amazing being on the water and smelling something cooking up.
Another cool feature that's just been implemented is on the inside edge of the gunwhale there's a track which supports all kinds of rail blaza accessories.
Haven't used it at night yet but there's nice lighting (white and red) on the roof of the helm and inside the cab.
I haven't really ventured far in my smaller boat so excited to get out and do some longer trips! Any suggestions on some live bait grounds around moreton and where to flick them are most welcome!
If you see me out on the water come say hi
