  1. I will be catching up with him later in Feb and will ask.
  2. Nice one Kat, Its a skill worth your learning. For me I like to give them the bait, then dig my fingers under the sand in a spot where I can pinch them, wait until they arch then firmly clamp down and pull out straight away. Don't snatch at them. you move, not so much slowly but calmly. This video has a great shot of it at about 1.11 I know there are some professional wormers that used to work the spit. Plenty up there just a matter of the right day. I have seen one guy pull one out with their toes then pull out the worm they are on with their hands... I can't imagine ever doing this.. haha.
  3. Nice one mate. There are some good fish there. It's so good that you are catching in our backyard. Keep up the good work and post some pics in here too?
  4. Just saw this one mate. Well done. Quality fish!
  5. Nice one mate, Welcome to the forum. Such beautiful country. Do you have any photos of the fish you have caught?
  6. Hey Myles, You can pretty much fix any rod... but I don't. they will never really be the same and repairs can make them weaker as well. You can put a sleeve inside the break but the bend is all wrong and the balance is all out. Like Old Scaley said the only exception to this is if you just break off the tip... but even then they are not the same. I am a shocker for breaking rods... a good tap on a carbon fibre/graphite rod and it will likely break the next time you load it up. These days I only purchase rods like live fibre that take a bit of a knock. I gotta say I have loved ultra light rods for catching smaller fish but I just have to stop... Why not have a shot on getting a refund? Good luck.
  7. Graphite rods break easily. High sticking is when you point the tip of the rod straight up when there is a fish below you. It causes the rod to bend past its ability. Think of an upside down J. you need to keep the rod tip pointed more towards the fish so it only has a gentle curve in it (more like an r). This is not as much of a problem in older glass rods and to a lesser extent composite (glass tipped) rods as they can bend a lot more. It mostly happens when the fish is close to the boat, the angler lifts the rod to pull it close for a net or gaff shot. The fish flicks, bends the tip down and snap. I'm sure you would be able to find plenty of videos on this.
  8. Wow. Sounds like an expensive sport! I don't thin there would be much rigging left if you flipped. Thanks for the help mate.
  9. Nice one mate. Great to see the bass have decided to be more cooperative. Is that a lure hanging out of the spangled?

  12. It can't be any worse haha. The video surveys we did showed almost nothing was living there before... except a few green toads and one lonely 4 inch long leather jacket.
  13. I reckon it would be holding some mackerel and small fish already. We are doing some surveys in March so will know more then. I will let you know.
  14. Do you have a recommended model? I would like one for Amity.
  15. mate no embarrassment in asking questions. It is a lot more embarrassing getting rescued. I look forward to hearing about your adventures mate.
  16. Nice fish mate. 1 day too late for the comp. oh well. Great to see you consistently getting a feed. Has anyone tried the new shellfish reefs at the port?
  17. Nice one mate. Glad you are getting feed. the cheeky wind made the ripples at our swimming spot that little bit bigger. I decided to not go out on the boat due to this. haha. It is frustrating that the predicted NE at 5 knots was a NW at 15... Regarding your spot, although it looks like you made the best of it anyhow, Lance, "Aussie 123" (RIP mate) showed me how to do this and get it right most times. Trick is to stop on the spot where you want to hang. Stop the boat by reversing or whatever you need to do and just drift for about a min. This shows you on the GPS the line that you will hang. Go up the opposite direction, drop anchor and let out enough line until you are where you want to be. Might take a few goes to work out how far off the spot you need to be and how much rope to let out but it has worked for me plenty of times. Thanks for the fun report mate.
  18. Good luck mate. I look forward to seeing your results. Its a great part of the world
  19. So good. Great videos thanks mate. Glad you have stopped buying the donuts.
