  1. They will be fine to eat from pretty much anywhere (except a landlocked muddy dam when they can get that strong freshwater flavour). Give them a go? What have you got to lose? The rest of the world target them for eating, I think we are just spoilt with fish that are easier to deal with. I suspect that the slime puts people off... Just like a lot of people don't like to target greasy cod (aka estuary cod) . When I was a young lad my grandfather took me to the creek in Mullumbimby and I always insisted in taking a few eel tail catfish home (tandan). They were always delicious.
  2. Nice one mate. Enjoy a feed of the best.
  3. Nice fish mate. Skinned shins sting like the blazers. Look after yourself
  4. Are the worms only available in areas of soft mud with grass on the top? Do they live in more sandy areas?
  5. haha yep sorry I re-read it. Covid test came back negative... go figure... Means I can go to Straddie on Tuesday yay.
  6. Did they put landing net handles in the comp? Maybe next year. my brag mat blew out of the boat at some stage... I need a sticker haha.
  7. Yep he is still around. He is isolating now as well... PS my test came back as Negative... I have no idea how that works but it looks good for me to go to Straddie on Tuesday.
  8. I just use the ones from BCF they are great. Just don't get them wet at all or they will rust away asap.
  9. Just a quick report. I had a few hours around the rainbow channel last weekend with Angus. We were flicking 4 inch soft plastics around the sandy patches on the drop off on the Western side of the Rainbow. We came across one spot where the flatties were schooled up. There were at least 12 in the spot some were huge. Not quite busting up haha but they did spook easily in the shallows that were just over ankle deep water at times. We dropped more than we landed but kept 4 and released one that we weren't sure if it was too big. 2 of the ones we dropped were very large flathead. One of the medium versions jumped straight out of the net! On the way back we had a flick on the north side of Peel just outside the green zone near the Lazaret and picked up some nice little squire and a grassie. The sandy was just swimming past. Just his unlucky day I suppose. Here are some pics
  10. Depends if you are tackle junkie or not. You can spend pretty much as much as you like on fishing gear but the rig you have would do the job. If you wanted you could go a bit lighter for pinkies.
  11. Not good... well I don't have mine yet but Mrs Drop Bear is positive and I have symptoms... Poop.
  12. GOLD. Give it another 20 years and.... you will probably have forgotten everything any way.
  13. I didn't know that. They are prolific up here in QLD. Thanks for the info.
  14. Thanks mate. I have 2 vax but missed out on getting the 3rd last Thursday due to my wife (and probably me) getting covid... I will need to put it off for a week now. Oh well... more time for drinking I suppose haha.
  15. Hey Ed, I'm looking for covid advice for Straddie. Do you have a link you could share?
  16. Great work mate! Now do I have this right? You caught 20 whiting in 45 mins (while battling catfish, tarwhine and stingrays) and you consider this a patchy session!? Mate you are a champion. How much do you charge for guiding? not joking.
  17. Pretty gutted... Was going to be at Amity today... Planned on fishing all week... Whiting, bream, flathead, cod, snapper... But Covid happened... Dunno when I can get out again... Stupid Bats, keep your diseases to yourselves next time please...
