  1. Sad you couldn't go. I might be able to do a trip next week or this weekend or next weekend. My boat is at Amity but if the weather is nice I could run down and pick you up at the creek?
  2. Yesterdays and todays rain isn't going to help much... I would love to go and chase some prawns. I also need this to clear up for Easter!
  3. When are you heading out?
  4. Good on ya Tugger. You sure seem to be your happiest when you see red.

5th now. I am starting to feel more at home haha.
  6. Congratulations Daryl, So good to have you doing this. You are a champ. I hope you find some spots for us to put in some shellfish reefs too???? Robbie
  7. I will let Daryl answer it properly but I feel extremely confident that the fads are not and will not be in green zones.
  8. We went out yesterday. South passage was nearly a millpond. There is still fair bit of colour in the water and heaps of seagrass and seaweed. We didn't see any timber in the water at all. I was in the Pumicestone Passage on Thursday and it was still muddy as. we had about 30cm of vis so made finding the oyster reefs really hard. Friday saw us get heaps of slimies and we got 10 School Mackerel which was a surprise as we were chasing spotties. Delicious all the same . Home by 10am. We also got a few small macktuna and bycatch was a few stripies. Time to get out there I'd say
  9. The swell seems to be dropping all week so I am heading out Friday. I can let you know after that. The water at Amity and even at Home Beach is still a bit stained with tannin but it seems most of the debris has gone. Good luck, what day are you planning to go?
  10. Look after yourself mate. I have long covid now... Dizzy spells and some serious fatigue. I hope you get through it fast.
  11. Sam are you still over at Straddie? I'm spending a fair bit of time at Amity these days.
  12. Nice one mate. Delicious dinners for you. well done.
  13. Yes mate fly fishing is a fun thing to do. A lot of people target flathead in the rivers, Tuna in the bays and offshore, Bass, Yellowbelly and Cod in the freshwater rivers/dams as well as trout in colder areas. You can target bream around rock walls and jetties or even Mangrove Jack. Trevally love them, Mullet on bread flies (you get bream this way too). Even Marlon and big game fish. Some people specialise on Golden Trevally and Snub-nosed Dart on the flats around Frasier. Plenty of options. It is harder to do than spin fishing but so satisfying. You can make your own flied pretty easily and the gear doesn't need to be crazy expensive. I wouldn't purchase an expensive rod like a Sage at first as you will probably damage it. Tip is to watch a few videos and then go to a park without a fly on and practice casting. Put out a hula hoop and try and land the end of the line in this. Don't try to cast too far at first and always wear safety glasses or sunglasses. Try and pick a calm day as wind is really hard at first. I love fly fishing and would recommend it to anyone.

One has a ' so one is saying I am rubbish and one is saying that my tipping is rubbish... either way seems pretty accurate haha. Although... I am in unfamiliar territory haha.

I'm not really sure... It kicked me out and I couldn't work out how to get back in. I think I started a new account. Just look at the one that is doing the best I will try and unjoin one of them.
  17. Good to know. I must have bought the wrong one. Thanks
  18. They are very easy to fillet. Obviously a sharp knife. Think of them like a founder or sole but with a bit in the middle you don't want. Gently run the knife along where you think the flaps start until you hit the cartilage. Then lay the knife over and cut to the edge of the flap. flip it over and do the same on the bottom. You can get 2 fillets per side but the tops are bigger. This guy does it from the outside in. got to 30 seconds. It seems to work pretty well but I prefer to start at the top as I recon you get more. Then skin the fillets like any fish. I like to cut them across the grain then fry in breadcrumbs but you can eat them any way you like. I would love to get some Japanese recipes that keep the skin on as it feels similar to eel. I can't find any though.
  19. Note to self. Do not respond to this with innuendo.......... This is a family forum.....
  20. Perhaps I have the wrong one. Good info thanks.
