Hi Old Scaley That’s a nice session you had, despite not catching what you wanted. If you can, I recommend fishing with live bait around the docks with one soft vibe lure. Good to see some crabs too I find dead baiting with herring, mullet etc is always very efficient for fish, I caught my profile picture one on half a dead herring lol. Tide time: Weather: Moon cycle: Tackle: Overall Success Rate: That's how I make up mine, if there's anything else you think I could add/that I've missed, I'd love to hear it The moon cycle is just something I've thought of too. I normally write them up on a sketchbook but I've been a bit slack lately lol. I keep mine for the exact same reason as you, to see when to and to not go to that spot. Hope this helped Cheers Hamish

G'day Leejin Do you throw a cast net? If you do, you should try out Colmslie for prawns, whether you want fresh/freezer bait or a feed. I have also heard tales of people catching threadfin off the pier there, but unless you are night fishing with live bait (and there isn't a crowd of fisherman) I don't think you'd have a high chance (very well fished). I've never had much luck at Nudgee, either. You also get a lot of herring at Colmslie. You could try the Pine River/Shorncliffe area, I've heard the Shorncliffe Pier fishes well for bream, flathead, whiting and possibly cod. I'd assume it's using prawn, though that's just from being shown/told about it. If you can find a jetty or landbased spot on the Pine I'd say give it a go, (google maps) probably fishing with prawns, and fish strips would probably work too. I've only been on the Pine once (I caught a sole and little bream on a friends tinny) but if you're fishing muddier areas you'd probably get bream, cod, etc while on the flats whiting, sole, flathead, etc. Also, remember a couple lures If you can throw a net, try for some prawns too. Hi KC24 These are just some spots I've found from a book (Landbased Fishing Guide Brisbane Area by Nigel Webster). I can't say I've fished all of them but they should get you started. 1. Raby Bay Canal Northern Entrance - bream, flathead, whiting, tailor, mangrove jack, trevally, estuary cod, crabs 2. Raby Bay Foreshores - whiting, flathead, bream, tailor, squid 3. Cleveland Point - whiting, bream, flathead, mangrove jack, mud and sand crabs Here are some areas around Victoria Point to: 1. Point Halloran - whiting, bream, flathead, tailor, squid 2. Victoria Point - bream, flathead, whiting, tailor, snapper, estuary cod, squid, crabs 3. Yeo Park Shoreline - whiting, flathead, bream 4. Redland Bay Boat Ramp - whiting, bream, flathead, tailor, jewfish, mangrove jack, mud and sand crabs 5. Point Talburpin - whiting, bream, flathead From what the book says, I get that most of these locations are good to flick lures around near structure/in the shallows while in deeper parts use bait for jew, jacks, snappers and estuary cod. Hi Junky Yeah, my oldest reel is on it's seventh year, my size 1000 Shimano Sienna. I put a drop of lube where the reel handle is, where the knob connecting the reel handle on the other side is, where the bail arm flicks over and in any other spot which turns, flicks, etc. I only use WD-40 where the spool is so that part doesn't rust. I probably should start using specialized cleaners, thanks for the tip Sorry I don't know the name of these parts by the way, I should probably learn that I will check the drag washers out too, and give them a nice grease. Hi Junky Thanks for that, I love writing them too. Yeah, I have taken it apart this afternoon and no rust whatsoever so after drying I put WD-40 and lube on, it seems in very good shape so I reckon whoever dropped it only did a couple days ago, it spins good too. Hi all My dad and I were thinking we should go for a paddle on the Upper Brisbane River fishing for bass. We finally got around to it, and after putting some bait traps in at my local park I got some good river shrimp. My brother and sister came along, and it was a nice session overall. Here's what happened and the only catch was a huge surprise We launched the kayak at twin bridges, at Fernvale. Though, since my mum's having a rest, we had to take my brother and sister... At first, they didn't want to go, but after some thinking we decided we could tow them in Dad's 35-year-old rubber dingy, which is in surprisingly good shape. At first, I was towed to a snag where I've had a big bust off, but not in a pool after the rapids where, I would've preferred to go (as well as my Dad). The people camping seemed fine with us staying there, but we certainly didn't want to get kicked away so we just stayed in ankle deep water. Though, getting towed was a disaster as I was slumped back the whole time and couldn't paddle. We switched roles on the way home and it worked fine because they sat on the edge and didn't half sink it The rubber dingy After soaking a Cicada Jackall, spinnerbait and live river shrimp for about 15 minutes, my Dad and siblings decided they'd want to go over and have a play over the other side of the river. Though, as they were walking over, you won't believe what my brother stepped on. At first, they thought it was line, but then after pulling it in, they realised it was an un-rusted rod with a Diawa Shinobi attached, which still worked! It had a decent hardbody attached and they gave it a cast straight away Free rod and reel for us! The owners must've been so bummed about it, but they obviously didn't know the water was waist deep. A few river shrimp, caught in opera house traps We fished/swam for about 15-30 more minutes, but we weren't catching much (probably due to the fact that people were camping and we were so noisy) so we decided to head back. We had to make it a short session anyways, back to school tomorrow so apparently, we needed to 'rest' LOL. I only have to drop my books in though, but they've got a full day. Also, does anyone know where to purchase plumbers’ putty as we need it to mount our depth sounder on. Overall, it was a nice paddle, and on the way back we stopped at the Fernvale bakery for a pie, it was delicious. Statistics: Tackle used: 2/o suicide hooks, 20lb fluorocarbon leader, #8 shank hooks, small pencil float, split shots (I know 20lb is a bit excessive but we don't like losing lures and its very snaggy territory around there) Temperature: About 31C Weather: Partly cloudy, very humid, Caught: Fishing rod and reel, live river shrimp, live garden worms I hope this was entertaining, Cheers Hamish

Hi Grmby Sorry, I have no knowledge of that area, but as a general rule fish will be washed down from upper reaches/further up after rain so fish towards the mouth of any system. Cheers Hamish
