Anyone fished Sunshine Reef off Noosa before?

Am keen to give Sunshine Reef a go heading out from Mooloolaba. I figure 33km isn't too far and beats towing to Noosa and crossing the bar. We regulalrly fish 50+ kms NE of Mooloolaba but am keen to try new spots and find new ground.

Would love to hear any tips advice. Was also wondering if there was much good ground between Mooloolaba and Sunshine Reef.

couple of the guys at AKFF go out to Sunshine Reef. Some nice grassy sweetlips have been pulled in from there, along with some snapper.

Although not sure about right now. Before the rain there was lots of spotty mackeral up that way, up to 5-6kg.

That would be a fair paddle out. Where do they put in Sunshine Beach?

Might give it a bash in the next few trips depending on wind direction.

I hope I'm thinking of the right reef.

One I'm thinking of is about 3km offshore.

Yeah thats about right.

I would look for some reef and make a few drifts over it. Check sounder for depths of reef and fish, and use jigheads to suit.

hey mate yeh fished there a fair bit.

my best day there was a 5kg snapper along withabout 10 4kg ones and a heap of pearlies.

sunshine reef overall is good but if you can get out to north reef wouild definatley be better. huge snapper there and brother has caught a sailfish and HUGE mahi mahi there.

Thanks for the reply mate. North Reef is definitely on the cards as well. Just waiting on a super calm day with an incomming tide early morning to have a shot at the Noosa bar.

What kind of depth did you get most of the action at Sunshine?
