Kayak colours bad for sharks?

i read a few places that yellows and oranges are a bit worse for kayaks because sharks are more agressive towards these colours

is this something to worry about or does it not make a large difference?

Mate I'm glad I bought a blue one - my mate with the orange one - well not a day goes by when I don't reflect on that tragedy.....

It may be a stupid question, or there might actually be stupid data to back this theory.

I doubt colour makes a difference, but if your soft, you buy yourself a sharkshield (like Biggles)

My stinkboat friends always say I will be eaten by a shark one day, and because I have a yellow yak they say its the best colour. And I am guilty of referring to it as yum yum yellow.

colour is not the main thing that attracts a shark. it is a stressing fish that will bring a shark yak side.even in my boat i have had squire taken boat side by a shark.

so stressing fish can equal shark! :laugh:

I am constantly worried that the sharks won't notice my yum-yum yellow yak... What with all the berley in the water and the blood dripping through the scupper holes and the fish thrashing around at the side of the yak. At least if a shark does find me through all those distractions then search and rescue will be able to spot my yellow yak against the blue sea a little easier - the pool of blood around it should help too :S

If you are that worried about the colour, why don't you just paint it brown like a seal or light green/ yellow like a big long turtle. Don't worry about the colour, the other guys have it right, with the stressed fish/ berley/ blood ect
