And how does it know when it hits the water?

I didnt think you could make something that big compact into something so small....

It probably works on a similar principle to expanding polyurethane gap fillers that come in a spray can. Probably just a supercharged version using chemicals that create a lot more gas more quickly.

Not sure how it senses hitting the water but could just be a chemical time delay so it inflates a second or two after the longest possible time in the air.
