Questions on 2 man kayaks?

If anyone owns a two man kayak you may be able to answer this question.

How do they go when you are the only one in it?

Is the ride unbalanced as all the weight is at the back?

Is there a lot more effort to paddle if you are on your own because of the extra weight?

On another note, how long will an electric motor run before the battery runs out?

The Viking two mans are easy to paddle one man.

In fact with the lack of a second person easier than with 2.

They way they sit in the water due to there design is not effected by over balance or what not.

They do however move through the water slightly slower due to a larger surface area on the water.

The Minn Kotas for differ on how long they last. It all depends on teh conditions. For example battling the tide, current and wind obviously it will put more strain on the motor.

In ideal conditions however on a dam or what not, one battery will set you up for a long fishing fishing.

Take into consideration for example that a Minn Kota will power one of Steves canoes at Hinze with 2 people for the majority of a day.

Also remember that for saltwater the regular Minn Kotas are not reccommended. There are saltwater upgrades though called minn Kota Riptides.

Hope this has been some help.

thanks for the help,

How much effect does the tide make? If i was to go in the Brisbane river for example is there a noticeable difference?

Are you better off drifting for a couple of hours either side of the tide so you dont do any work?

all comments are welcome as i am seriously thinking about getting one

Spot on with the drifting idea.

we do usually try and plan our trips so your going with the tide both ways. However this doesnt always work out :P

Sometimes due to a good session or what not the window of opportunity is missed and you have a hard paddle back. But thats part of it i guess :)
