Hey guys, been a bit quiet on the fishing fronts. Tried a few times but no success in the past couple of weeks! Today looked good, threw around a 100g microjig on a new GT popping combo (Penn slammer + Penn ocean assassin rod PE6-8). It was my first time catching a fish on gear this heavy. Its a tussle! Got one small GT and lost 3 others.

I can't ever remember seeing a bait school look so uniformly square.

Nice man, that bait ball In your photo is the darkest/densest I’ve seen in a long time. I was fishing off Straddie  a few weeks back and hadn’t seen so much surface bait in years. Hopefully a good pelagic season to come

Not my photos but spot the different species. 

I was watching Cobia peel away from their manta rays and smash up bait. Kingfish, GT and mackerel I also spotted. 

There were dozens of sharks! And multiple giant bait balls. Amazing viewing!

Thanks for the update Sam, it is amazing what is on our doorstep. That garden produce is first rate mate, can only imagine the awesome cook ups you're feasting on. Look out fish up north!!  Oh and nice mo! I've only done it once (and mine wasn't as good as yours ....) and had the misfortune of timing it with the expiry of my drivers licence (the old ones with the portrait photo cut and glued in) so had to get a new digital photo ..... so now I'll forever appear as an 80's porn star on my drivers licence ....... unless I get off my butt and arrange a new photo .......

we camped on Flinders last week. Bad weather but got out on Thursday. 

Lots of rat kings but nothing to take home. 

We worked really hard for not many fish. I think they must have followed the bait schools somewhere as we couldn't find any of them either. 

Hopefully next time they will be thick haha.
