freezing live bait

i was thinking about getting a casting net this week and chasing some fresh bait, whats the best way to store them until im ready to use them ?

probably catch during the week so i can go out friday night ? probably go out to the strathpine river somehwere?

any suggestions ?

Best way is to catch them at the start of the session so you can use them live mate! This means you need a battery powered livebait pump which costs all of $13.

other than that, there was a thread on here a month or so ago which suggested a light salting with freezing them in layers separated by paper towel of baking paper

yeah have a live bait pump, but was curoius to see what i needed to do to keep them for if i want to go away on the weekend or just round some up during the week for a quick session on the weekend.

Try to get them as dry as possible before freezing to help stop them freezing together. Adding salt is a good idea too.

when freezing prawns stick them in tubs of salt water and freezem up i use old margerine containers as they hold about enough for a sesion you just have to defrost the day before
